Removing a Windows 7 account. Basic removal methods

Instructions

Select an account in the list of users that appears and change the entry group to “regular” or “restricted” in the properties in the “group membership” tab. Alternatively, remove all system users, leaving only the built-in administrator (his default username is always "Administrator").

Now anyone can use the former administrator account. If you have forgotten, you can bypass the system using fairly simple techniques. First, log into the system as a normal user (if this is not possible, via the boot floppy). Open the system directory “System32” (C:WindowsSystem32). Make a backup copy of the "Logon.scr" file. Rename "Cmd.exe" to "logon.scr".

Restart Windows and wait about 10-20 minutes. If you did everything correctly, the command line will appear. At the command line, type “EXPLORER” and log in with full administrator rights. Then you can open accounts in exactly the same way (via the “Run” command) and limit or completely remove rights from each of them.

Only a few users know that it is possible to set up a home local network in such a way that all computers included in it have access to the Internet without purchasing expensive equipment.

You will need

  • - LAN card;
  • - network cable.

Instructions

First, select a computer that will be directly connected to the Internet. In this case, the Windows Vista operating system is installed on it. If this computer has only one network adapter, purchase a second network card. It will be needed to connect two computers to a local network.

Purchase a network cable of the required length. Use it to connect the network cards of both computers. Connect the provider cable to the second network adapter of the selected computer. In this case, the method of gaining access to the Internet (via a LAN port or DSL modem) is completely unimportant.

Turn on the first computer. Open the list of available network connections. Select the network adapter that is connected to the other computer. Open its properties. Select "Internet Protocol TCP/IPv4". Click the Properties button. Highlight the "Use the following IP address" option. Set the IP value for this network adapter to 25.25.25.1.

Set up an Internet connection if this operation has not already been performed. Go to the properties of this connection. Select the Access tab. Find the item “Allow computers on the local network to use this Internet connection.” Specify the network that your two computers form. Save your settings.

Activate the “Use the following IP address” option. Enter its value equal to 25.25.25.5. Press the Tab key to automatically obtain the subnet mask. Find the "Default Gateway" and "Preferred DNS Server" options. Fill them with the IP address of the first computer. Save your network settings.

The Windows security concept is based on the delimitation of access rights to computer resources in accordance with the rights assigned to user accounts. In XP, as in other versions of Windows, there is a superuser account created during installation, named Administrator in English and “Administrator” in the Russian version of the OS. When using the welcome screen, this account is not displayed, so questions like “how to log into XP as an administrator” often appear on IT forums.

You will need

  • - a user account that is a member of the administrators group.

Instructions

Open a Windows Control Panel window. To do this, press the Win button on your keyboard or click on the “Start” button located in the taskbar on your desktop. In the menu displayed after this, select the “Settings” item, wait until the child menu appears and click on the “Control Panel” item.

Open the User Accounts folder window. To do this, in the Control Panel window, find the item with the appropriate name and open it. Select the “Open” item in the context menu available when you right-click on the element, or make one or two clicks (depending on the current type of display of the folder contents) on the element with the left button.

Go to the Change User Account Settings window if Control Panel is in Category View. To do this, click on the “User Accounts” element in the current window. If you have Classic View enabled in Control Panel, you won't need to complete this step.

Go to the window for configuring user login and logout settings. Open the "Change User Login" item in the "Select a task..." group of the current window.

Disable the use of the welcome page at system startup. Uncheck "Use Welcome Page". Click the “Apply settings” button to commit the changes made.

Restart your computer. Close the Control Panel window. Click on the “Start” button. From the displayed menu, select “Turn off computer.” Next, select the “Restart” option and click OK or click the “Restart” button (the actions will depend on the installed version of the Service Pack for Windows XP). Wait until the system shuts down and then boots up.

Log in with administrator credentials. After the system boots, the “Login to Windows” window will appear. In the "User" field, enter the string "Administrator". In the Password field, enter the administrator password. Click OK.

In the Windows 7 operating system, there is an administrator account, as well as a Super Administrator account. The last entry is disabled by default, but it is the one that allows you to execute various system commands.

You will need

  • - a computer with the Windows 7 operating system.

Instructions

Start the Windows 7 operating system, then click the “Start” button or press the Win + R key combination, then in the window that opens, click on the “Run” command, then enter Lusrmgr.Msc, click on the “OK” button. In the “Local Users and Groups” menu that opens, click on the “Users” folder on the left side of the window.

Then, in the list of the central panel, find the “Administrator” account, right-click on it, call the “Properties” option. Go to the “General” tab, uncheck the “Disable account” checkbox. Then click OK.

Enable the Administrator account by running an elevated command prompt. Right-click the Command Prompt icon that appears at the top of the main menu, then select Run as administrator.

In the window that opens, enter the command net user administrator /active:yes, then press Enter. For the Russian version of the Windows 7 operating system, use the command net user Administrator / active: yes. After this, the Administrator account will be enabled and will be available when selected in the welcome window along with other existing accounts. Use it in the same way as another account.

Use the Local Security Policy feature to run an administrator entry. To do this, click the “Start” button to bring up the main menu, click “Run”, and in the window that opens, enter Secpol.msc. Then go to the Local Policies window, then select the Security Options option. In this window, change the account properties and enable the Administrator option. To change your account password, use the following command: net user administrator password.

Account - this is a user profile, which includes the user name, password, and the user’s group membership. It also determines its rights to access network and local resources. Accordingly, if you delete a user, all of his personal data will be deleted.

You can delete an account in Windows 7 in two ways. We discussed the first method in the article setting up an account in windows 7 In chapter Deleting an account.

Now we will look at the second method. Of these two methods, you can choose the more suitable one for yourself and use it.

Step 1. Right click on the icon Computer on the desktop. In the context menu window, select Control.

Step 2. Expand the list in the window Utilities, then Local users and click on the folder Users.

Step 3. A list of all users on your computer will appear in the central part of the window. Right-click on the user you want to delete. In the context menu window, select Delete.

Step 4. A window will appear Local users and groups the following content. It will say that when you delete an account, all information for that user will be deleted and it will no longer be possible to restore it, even if you create exactly the same account with the same name.
If you really want to delete your account, then click the button Yes.

If you have several accounts on your computer, sometimes you need to delete one of them. Let's see how this can be done on Windows 7.

The issue of liquidating one of the accounts can arise for very different reasons. For example, you do not use a specific profile, but when you start your computer you constantly have to choose between it and your permanent account, which significantly slows down the system boot speed. In addition, having multiple accounts negatively affects system security. It should also be taken into account that each profile “eats” a certain amount of disk space, sometimes quite a lot. Eventually, it may become damaged due to a virus attack or other reason. In the latter case, you need to create a new account and delete the old one. Let's see how to carry out the removal procedure in different ways.

Method 1: "Control Panel"

The most popular way to delete an unnecessary profile is through "Control Panel". To implement it, you must have administrative rights. In addition, you should note that you can only delete the account under which you are not currently logged in to the system.

  1. Click "Start". Sign in "Control Panel".
  2. Click "User Accounts and Security".
  3. In the next window, enter "User accounts".
  4. In the list of items in the window that appears, click "Manage another account".
  5. A window for selecting a profile to change opens. Click on the icon of the one you want to deactivate.
  6. Going to the profile management window, click "Account deletion".
  7. The named section opens. At the bottom there are two buttons offering different options for eliminating a profile:
    • Delete files;
    • Save files.

In the first case, all files that belong to the selected account will be destroyed. In particular, the contents of the folder will be cleared "My Documents" of this profile. In the second, the files in the user directory will be saved in the same directory "Users" ("Users"), where they are currently located in a folder whose name matches the profile name. These files can be used in the future. But you should remember that in this case, disk space will not be freed up due to account deletion. So, choose the option that suits you.

  8. Whichever option you choose, in the next window you will need to confirm deleting the profile by clicking "Account deletion".
  9. The flagged profile will be deleted.

Method 2: "Account Manager"

There are other options for deleting a profile. One of them is carried out through "Account Manager". This method is especially useful when, due to various PC failures, in particular profile corruption, the list of accounts is not displayed in the window "Control Panels". But using this method also requires administrative rights.

However, you need to take into account that using this method, the profile folder will not be deleted from the hard drive.

Method 3: “Computer Management”

You can delete a profile using the tool "Computer Management".

Method 4: "Command Line"

The next removal method involves entering the command in "Command line" running as administrator.

As you can see, in this case the deletion confirmation window does not appear, and therefore you need to act with extreme caution, since there is no room for error. If you delete the wrong account, it will be almost impossible to recover it.

Method 5: “Registry Editor”

Another removal option involves using "Registry Editor". As in previous cases, to implement it you must have administrative rights. This method poses a significant danger to the performance of the system in case of erroneous actions. Therefore, use it only if for some reason you cannot use other options to solve the problem. Also, before starting "Registry Editor" We recommend creating a restore point or backup.

  1. To go to "Registry Editor" use the window "Run". You can call this remedy by using Win+R. Enter in the input area:

    Click "OK".

  2. Will be launched "Registry Editor". You can immediately play it safe and create a copy of the registry. To do this, click "File" and select "Export…".
  3. A window will open "Export Registry File". Give it any name in the field "File name" and go to the directory where you want to store it. Please note that in the parameters block "Export Range" stood the value "The entire registry". If the value is active "Selected branch", then move the radio button to the desired position. After that press "Save".

A copy of the register will be saved. Now, even if something goes wrong, you can always restore it by clicking "Registry Editor" menu item "File" and then clicking "Import…". Then in the window that opens you will need to find and select the file that you previously saved.

  4. On the left side of the interface there are registry keys in the form of folders. If they are hidden, then click "Computer" and the required directories will be displayed.
  5. Go to the following folders "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE", and then "SOFTWARE".
  6. Now go to the section "Microsoft".
  7. Next click on catalogs "Windows NT" And "CurrentVersion".
  8. A large list of directories opens. Among them you need to find the folder "ProfileList" and click on it.
  9. A whole series of subdirectories will open, the name of which will begin with the expression "S-1-5-". Select each of these folders in turn. Moreover, every time on the right side of the interface "Registry Editor" pay attention to the parameter value "ProfileImagePass". If you find that this value represents the path to the directory of the profile that you want to delete, then this means that you are in the right subdirectory.
  10. Next click RMB in the subdirectory in which, as we found out, contains the desired profile, and from the list that opens, select "Delete". It is very important not to make a mistake when choosing the folder to delete, as the consequences can be fatal.
  11. A dialog box opens asking for confirmation to delete the partition. Once again, make sure that you are deleting exactly the desired folder, and click "Yes".
  12. The section will be deleted. You can close "Registry Editor". Restart your computer.
  13. But that is not all. If you want to delete the directory where the files are located for an account that has already been liquidated, you will also have to do this manually. Run "Conductor".
  14. Paste the following path into its address bar:

Click Enter or click the arrow next to the line.

  15. Once in the directory "Users", find the directory whose name matches the account name of the previously deleted registry key. Click on it RMB and select "Delete".
  16. A warning window will open. Click on it "Continue".
  17. Once the folder is deleted, restart your PC again. You can consider deleting your account completely completed.

As you can see, there are several ways to delete a user account in Windows 7. If possible, first of all, try to solve the problem using the first three methods presented in this article. They are the simplest and safest. And only if it is impossible to implement them, use "Command line". Consider manipulating the system registry as a last resort option.

Although it is customary among most users to call electronic computers personal computers, a PC with the Windows 7 operating system is often used by several people at once. Moreover, each user can create multiple accounts in the system.

A significant number of profiles that are no longer used not only take up hard drive space, but can also create confusion.

Below is a guide about one of the methods for managing profiles in the OS, namely, methods for deleting users on a computer running Windows 7 are described.

Basic removal methods

The Seven has all the necessary tools to solve this problem. If there is an unused account in the system, you can quickly get rid of it.

However, if the PC is in a domain, then only the local account will be deleted, and domain records will remain untouched. It is necessary to take into account that files that were created under the account being deleted will also be erased from the PC.

Method 1. Through the control panel (CP)

You must log in with administrator rights and perform the following sequential steps:

As you can see, the technique is simple and the vast majority of people will not have any difficulties. The only difficulty that a beginner may have is logging into the system with extended privileges. Therefore, below is a brief instruction on how to solve this problem.

How to get extended powers?

The above technique started with the fact that it requires administrator rights to perform it. To obtain them, you must complete the following sequential steps:

Method 2. Using an account manager (AM)

If, due to problems in the system, the profile that is planned to be deleted has been damaged, then the first method will not solve the issue, but will need to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the MUS. This method, just like the first, is carried out with extended rights.

The following steps need to be followed:

Note: This technique allows you to delete unnecessary accounts, but the folders will not be erased from the system volume, so if necessary, you will have to remove them manually later.

Method 3: Through PC Control

Sequencing:

Method 4. Using command line capabilities (CL)

You will need to do the following:

Note: In the command, instead of “Hope”, you should write the specific username that is to be deleted.

7. Click “Enter”;

Method 5: Adjusting entries in the Registry Editor

You need to do the following:

How to delete a guest account?

An account called “Guest” cannot be deleted, but it can be disabled. To this end, you need to do the following:

Windows is a multi-user operating system. Two or more users can work on one computer at once. Sometimes it becomes necessary to delete an account. Deleting a user account is quite simple. However, not everyone knows how to delete or hide the local administrator account in Windows 7. This is the issue that this article is devoted to.

How to hide an account

Removing the basic Administrator account can seriously hamper your ability to use Windows. On behalf of this user, the system is managed and its configurations are changed.

If you don’t want someone to log in as an administrator and accidentally damage your computer, the best solution is to hide this account.

To hide your account, you can use the Windows command line. To do this you will need to do the following:

After completing the steps, restart your personal computer to confirm the changes made. Now the Administrator user account will not be visible in the system management interfaces and the list of accounts available for login.

Deleting a user

You can delete a user from any account that has administrator rights. This can be done through the Control Panel:

Restart your PC to correctly save changes to the registry. However, if you try to delete the admin account in this way, you will not succeed. The required button simply will not be in the list of available operations.

Removing an administrator

To delete the Administrator account, you can use a special service interface, which can be launched through the “Run” dialog. To successfully complete this operation, follow the instructions.
