Router page address. How to open router settings

Most citizens have a router at home that allows them to access the Internet both in normal mode (via a network cable) and wirelessly. From time to time, users need to log into their network device and change, for example, the password to the Wi-Fi network. Unfortunately, sometimes errors occur in the operation of the router. Let's look at how to go into the tp-link router menu settings and solve existing problems.

Before entering the settings of the tp-link router, you need to connect it to the workstation. The router usually comes with everything you need to connect it.

First you need to decide on the installation location. It is best to place the network device in the center of the living space as far as possible from household appliances. Otherwise, even an ordinary microwave oven with its radiation can disrupt the stability of the Wi-Fi signal. As a result, there is a constant loss of connection to the Internet and a temporary inability to enter the router configuration menu.

After installing the equipment, you need to connect it to the electrical network. Within a few seconds the device is activated. Next, use one of the methods below to go into the settings of the tp-link router.

By wire (LAN)

The first method is necessary to connect it directly to the computer. To do this, you need to connect one of the connectors on the TP device with a network card connector on the computer using a network cable.

The cable looks like this:

TP router:

Card connector:

If the connection is made correctly, the indicator light on the device will light up under the number of the socket where the cable was connected:

Now we go to the TP modem.

Via wireless network (Wi-Fi)

An alternative option is to connect via a wireless network. To do this, you will need a wi-fi module on your computer. Turn it on, find the network and connect. Depending on the model, the communication password is either missing or is set by default as a set of randomly generated numbers.

If you are unable to establish a connection with the TP equipment when using a wireless connection, you should use the first option.

The second method has advantages over the first in that connection to the TP-Link router menu is carried out not only using a computer, but also via a phone/tablet. That is, it is possible to enter the configuration menu from a mobile device.

Logging into the settings of TP-link routers

After the connection to the router has been established, you enter the settings of the tp-link router. To do this, you need to open your browser and enter the numbers in the address bar that are indicated on the case.

The numeric codes look like this: 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1, and the letter key: tplinklogin.net.

It all depends on the model of the purchased TP device. It also contains the login and password in order to log into the router.

Having specified the correct address, the user sees an access dialog box on his computer:

Factory settings for login and password are admin. After entering the login and password, the user is allowed to enter the configuration panel, or “admin panel” of the TP router.

Possible problems and solutions

Below is a list of the most common typical problems that a user encounters when trying to log into the settings of a TP-Link home router. Let's look at each of the errors in more detail.

Invalid IP address

A common “problem” that arises when a user tries to access the settings of a tp-link modem is an incorrect IP address. The error is as follows. The IP address in your browser's address bar does not match the router's IP address.

To understand what address the router has, you need to do the following. Left-click on the network connection sign in the lower right corner of the computer screen and open “Network and Internet settings”:

In a new window, go to the “Network and Sharing Center” menu:

By default, the current connection is named “Ethernet”. To find out the required information, you need to go to the information window. Right-click on it and select “Information”:

The current address of the equipment is contained in the “Default gateway” field:

Close the current dialog box and log in to the tp-link router with the specified address.

Now access to the router settings is open.

The router's IP is on a different subnet

A special case - problems with an incorrect IP address - is when the router and computer are on different subnets. For example, the IP address of the user's computer is 192.168.0.3, and the router is 192.168.1.1. In this case, the question arises: how to enter the basic Wi-Fi settings of the tp-link router. To correct this situation, you need to do the following. Go to the “Network and Sharing Center”, as described in the previous paragraph. The current connection, by default, is named “Ethernet”. Right-click on it and select “Properties”:

A non-standard port is used to enter the router settings

A rare case is when, in order to enter the current settings of the TP-Link router, they use a different port. This situation arises if someone has already used the router and changed its configuration for themselves.

You can try to go to the universal address for network devices from TP – tplinkwifi.net, but, unfortunately, it is not available for all models. If the browser opens a window as a result, it means that you will not be able to access the equipment and you should simply return to the factory configuration:

To return the settings to factory settings, you should use the instructions for resetting the configuration specified in the “Problems with the router” section.

Network interface is disabled

Disabling the network interface is possible both on the equipment side and on the workstation side. If the interface on the TP router is disabled, you should simply connect the cable to another connector:

Depending on the models, there are four, two, or sometimes one network port. Accordingly, in the latter case, this option will not work, and the user will not be able to access the settings of the tp-link wifi router.

If the problem is on the user’s computer, first of all, you should disable the antivirus and firewall. Situations arise when the program simply blocks all connections and accepts them as a false threat.

Another option for the network interface to be unavailable from the user’s side is a driver problem. To check, you need to go to the device manager. Right-click on the “Start” button and select the required section:

The dialog box that opens should not contain yellow exclamation marks or a red cross on the network adapter. If all drivers are installed correctly, the window looks like this:

After completing all the points, you should try to go to the main menu of the equipment.

Problems with the router

When the owner of the router says: “I can’t access the settings of the tp-link router and have tried all the above methods,” perhaps the reason lies in physical damage to the cable. For example, the power cord is pinched by a chair. Another option: the cable from the provider fell out of the router connector.

If the user still does not enter the settings of the tp-link router, it is worth trying to change the IP addressing settings of the device itself. To do this, reset the TP router settings to factory settings.

There is a Reset button on the reverse side. It is noticeable to the touch, and sometimes is recessed into the router body. In the first case, simply pinch it with your finger, and in the second, you will need a thin tool, for example, a needle or a thin screwdriver. Keep the button pressed for 10-15 seconds.

After a successful reset procedure, all indicator lights on the router should blink simultaneously. Next, the device reboots within one minute. After this, you should open the browser and go to the configuration menu again.

This is almost a universal way to solve many problems that arise when working with a router. But if resetting the settings does not help, then you should contact a service center.

Forgot your router password

Another option: the user has forgotten the password in the network device menu. You should try to log into the network device by trying possible passwords. But it is better to use separate instructions that tell in detail how to solve this problem.

An alternative option is to reset the TP equipment configuration to factory default. The method is described above.

Forgot your network password

Users also forget their wireless network password from time to time. But it can be easily recognized using the router’s control panel or using special programs. There is another instruction about this in more detail.

Conclusion

After reading this article, the user will no longer have problems with tp-link and the question of how to enter the router settings. The main problems are considered and recommendations are given on how to solve the problem on your own. If the user still does not enter the settings of his tp-link home router, he should contact specialists who can help solve his problem.

If you want to configure your Wi-Fi router yourself, change the password, the name of your wireless network, or other settings, then in any case, you will first need to go to the router settings. In the control panel, where you can set the necessary parameters. I want to say right away that this is not at all difficult. It doesn’t matter what model of router you have or what manufacturer it is (Tp-Link, D-Link, Asus, Linksys, Zyxel, etc.), following these instructions you can go to the control panel. The operating principle of all routers is almost the same, which means that we can access the settings using the same instructions. Yes, there are some nuances, we will definitely consider them.

A router is an independent device that runs on its own software. And it can only be accessed via a network cable (In most cases). Many people have a question: what kind of disk and drivers are included with the router? No, there are no drivers there. The router does not require drivers at all. The disk usually contains a special utility with which you can quickly configure the router. But, I would advise setting up the router through the settings, which can be accessed through a browser. And as I wrote above, this is very easy to do.

We will consider two methods: accessing the control panel via a network cable from a computer or laptop, and accessing settings via Wi-Fi from mobile devices (or also from a computer). I recommend using a network cable and a computer for this task. But, if this is not possible, then you can change some settings, or even completely configure the router from your phone, tablet, or laptop via Wi-Fi. If you want to update the firmware, you cannot do this via Wi-Fi.

How to access router settings from a computer

I have seen many articles where they describe some complex actions that need to be performed from the very beginning (checking network settings, getting the router’s IP address via the command line). There is no need to do this, at least not yet. First you need to try going into the settings. If it doesn’t work out, then we’ll look at the possible reasons. Why bother yourself with unnecessary nonsense.

Connecting the computer to the router

We take a network cable, which usually comes with the router (you can use your own cable) and connect one end to the network connector of your desktop computer or laptop. Photo for clarity:

We connect the second end of the network cable to the router into one of 4 (usually) LAN connectors. They are yellow. For example:

Typically, settings can be accessed at , or . The address of your specific router and the login and password that you will need later can be found on the router itself. Usually, they are written on the bottom of the sticker. An address like . can also be indicated there. For example:

The router must be turned on. Next, open any browser on your computer. You can even use Internet Explorer, I use Opera. To go into the settings, we need to write the IP address of the router in the address bar of the browser 192.168.1.1 , or 192.168.0.1 , and go through it by pressing the button Enter. A window will appear asking for your username and password. Again, the default is usually used admin And admin. You can also see this information at the bottom of the device.

If you changed your login and password to enter settings (not to be confused with the Wi-Fi network password), then you need to indicate them. And if you forgot them, you will have to do (article using Tp-Link as an example), and configure it again.

If you cannot find the IP address, login and password of your router, then try first going to the address 192.168.1.1, and then to 192.168.0.1. Try admin as your login and password. Also, try leaving the password field blank, or specifying 1234.

Set the required parameters and press the button Login, or simply Entrance, doesn't matter. Your window itself may look different, it doesn’t matter.

If everything is fine, then you will see the settings of your router.

If not, then now we’ll try to figure out what the problem might be. Scroll below.

We go to the control panel via Wi-Fi: from a phone, tablet, laptop

If, for example, you don’t have a network cable, or you don’t have a single computer at hand, but you need to go into the router settings, then you can use a Wi-Fi connection for this.

One important point: when connecting via Wi-Fi, and not via a network cable, you can make some settings in exactly the same way, or even set up a new router. But, under no circumstances update the software of your router. With this you can simply break it. Flash only when connected via cable. Instructions for .

In principle, we do everything the same way as I described above, starting from the moment we launch the browser, go to the IP address of the router, etc. The only difference is that we connect to the Wi-Fi network of the router, which we need to configure , not via cable. We take our phone, laptop, or tablet and connect it to Wi-Fi (if it is not connected). If, for example, you want to connect to a new router, it will have a standard name and will be unprotected.

I'll show you the example of logging into the control panel from a tablet. Just like on a computer, open any browser and go to the IP of your router (192.168.0.1, or 192.168.1.1). Specify your login information.

Settings should open.

That's all, as you can see, everything is very simple. If something doesn't work out, ask questions in the comments.

Doesn't go into settings: possible reasons and solutions

I wrote in more detail about this problem in the article. But, since the problem when the router settings do not open and you cannot access the address 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.1.1 is very popular, I think that this information will definitely not be superfluous. Let's look at the most popular problems:

When you try to go to the IP address 192.168.0.1, or 192.168.1.1, the error page not accessible appears, or the page could not be opened.

This means that the computer cannot connect to the router. It doesn't matter via cable or Wi-Fi. First of all, check if there is a connection. Look at the notification bar (bottom right corner), on the connection status. If you are connected via cable, then a computer should be drawn there, it may have a yellow icon, this is normal. If you connect via Wi-Fi, then there should be just a white network (network level). It may also have a yellow exclamation mark.

Solutions:

  • You need to check the network settings on your computer. Perhaps you have it in your local network settings (when connected via cable), or wireless (Wi-Fi connection), some static IP settings or other parameters are specified. You need to set automatic IP and DNS acquisition. I have already written about this in detail in the article.
  • If the connection is via cable, then you need to try replacing it. I have come across cases more than once when the problem was in the cable. Or connect via Wi-Fi.
  • If you have Wi-Fi on your computer and you are connecting via cable, then you need to completely turn off Wi-Fi. And vice versa, when connecting via a wireless network, disconnect the cable.
  • If all else fails, do it, perhaps it contains some non-standard connection settings.
  • Also, there is no need to rule out a breakdown of the router itself. Sometimes it happens.

Invalid login/password. Or nothing happens after clicking the Login button.

There may be such a problem. We went to the address, a window appeared asking for data, you specified it, but an error appears that the login data was entered incorrectly, or the page simply reloads.

Solutions:

  • Try different versions of the login/password pair. Admin and admin, try leaving both fields blank, or just the password. Will try to specify the password 1234.
  • Try logging in from a different browser.
  • Most likely you will have to reset your router settings (link given above).

Afterword

There are many manufacturers, and even more models of different routers. And almost everyone has their own nuances regarding settings. But the process of logging into the control panel is almost the same for everyone. I hope that this instruction helped you get into the settings of your router. If you have any problems, write in the comments, we will figure it out together.

This question is especially of concern to novice users, and most of all to those who recently bought a router to organize a home local network (+ Internet access for all devices in the apartment) and want to quickly set everything up...

I remember myself at that moment (4 years ago): I probably spent about 40 minutes figuring it out and setting it up. In the article I would like to dwell more not only on the question itself, but also on the errors and problems that usually arise during the process.

So, let's begin…

1. What needs to be done at the very beginning...

Buy a router... :)

The first thing you do is connect all computers to the router’s LAN ports (connect the LAN port of the router with an Ethernet cable to the LAN port of your network card).

Usually there are at least 4 LAN ports on most router models. The router comes with at least 1 Ethernet cable (regular twisted pair), which is enough for you to connect one computer. If you have more: don’t forget to buy Ethernet cables at the store along with your router.

Your Ethernet cable through which you were connected to the Internet (previously it was most likely connected to the computer’s network card directly) should be plugged into the router’s socket called WAN (sometimes called Internet).

After turning on the router's power supply, the LEDs on its case should start blinking (if you have connected the cables, of course).

In principle, you can now proceed to setting up the Windows OS.

2. Determining the IP address and password with login to enter the router settings (examples ASUS, D-LINK, ZyXel)

The first setup of the router must be done on a desktop computer connected to it via an Ethernet cable. In principle, you can do it from a laptop, only then you still connect it via cable, configure it, and then you can switch to a wireless connection...

This is due to the fact that by default, the Wi-Fi network may be disabled altogether and you, in principle, will not be able to enter the router settings.

2.1. Windows OS setup

First, we need to configure the OS: in particular, the Ethernet network adapter through which the connection will go.

To do this, go to the control panel at the following path: " Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center". Here we are interested in the link " Change adapter settings"(located in the left column if you have Windows 7, 8).

Go to the properties of Internet Protocol version 4.

And here you can set to automatically obtain an IP and DNS address.

Now you can go directly to the settings process itself...

2.2. How to find out the address of the router settings page

And so, launch any browser installed on your computer (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox). Next, enter the IP address of your router’s settings page into the address bar. Typically this address is indicated on the documentation accompanying the device. If you don’t know, here is a small plate with popular router models. Let's look at another method below.

Table of logins and passwords (default).

If you manage to log in, you can go to the settings of your router. You may be interested in articles on setting up the following routers: , .

2.3. If you can't log in

There are two ways...

1) Go to the command line (in Windows 8, this can be done by clicking on “Win + R“, then in the “open” window that opens, enter “CMD" and press the Enter key. In other OSes, the command line can be opened through the “start” menu ").

What interests us most here is the line with the “main gateway”. It contains the address of the page with the router settings. In this case (in the picture below): 192.168.1.1 (type it into the address bar of the browser, see password and login just above).

2) If all else fails, you can simply reset the router and return it to factory settings. To do this, there is a special button on the body of the device; in order to press it you need to try: you need a pen or a knitting needle...

On the D-Link DIR-330 router, the reset button is located between the outputs for connecting the Internet and the device’s power supply. Sometimes the reset button may be located on the bottom wall of the device.

3. Conclusion

Having considered the question of how to enter the router settings, I would like to emphasize once again that usually all the necessary information is in the documents that come with the router. It’s another matter if it is written in a “barbaric” (not Russian) language and you don’t understand anything about it or you bought the router secondhand (borrowed from friends/acquaintances) and there were no pieces of paper there...

Therefore, the saying here is simple: buy a router, preferably in a store and preferably with documentation in Russian. There are now a lot of such routers and different models, the price can vary significantly, from 600-700 rubles - to 3000-4000 rubles. and higher. If you don’t know and are just getting acquainted with such a device, I advise you to choose something in the mid-price category.

That's all. I'm going to settings...

As you remember, the first time the browser automatically opens the router settings page - the web interface. If some users want to change some settings, problems arise in accessing this menu. The router web interface is a router configuration program, which is a sequential set of web pages that can be accessed using any browser. But not everyone knows that you can open pages in several ways.

Domain Name Usage

Many manufacturers have taken care of users and use symbols that can be used as an address in the browser bar to open the settings menu. The following list contains router access addresses for the main router models (model: address for logging into the router’s web interface). If the links open the page of your router, then everything is in order. If not, read the next paragraph.

  • Netgear: routerlogin.net
  • Zyxel Keenetic: my.keenetic.net
  • TP-Link: tplinklogin.net
  • Linksys: linksyssmartwifi.com

IP Address Usage

If the abbreviations do not work, you can type the IP address of the router into the address bar - usually this is 192.168.0.1. If that doesn't work, press the key combination Win+R, dial cmd, click on the button "OK" , enter ipconfig and press the key Enter . The router's IP address is in the line Main gate. The username and password for entering the router menu are usually indicated in the user manual or on the device body. If you changed it and forgot, then you will have to reset the router settings to factory settings using the button Reset on the router body.

A router is a convenient solution for building a local and wireless network, allowing you to simultaneously access the Internet from several devices. However, to configure the router, you first need to install it correctly and go to the web interface, where the basic parameters of the equipment are indicated.

Connecting equipment

Before you go into the router settings, you need to install the equipment correctly. You will need:

  • Router.
  • Network cable.
  • Network card on a computer.

Any user can handle installing a router - the main thing is to carefully inspect the ports and figure out what they are needed for. Explanatory inscriptions and different colors of connectors will help with this.

  1. The cable that the provider brought into the room is inserted into the WAN/Line/Internet port (usually it is blue).
  2. A network cable, which comes with the router, is installed in one of the LAN ports (mostly yellow). The second end of the patch cord is connected to the computer's network card.
  3. The power cable is installed in the appropriate connector.

Once all the wires are in place, press the power button. If everything is done correctly, several indicators on the router will light up: power, network connection and connection to the computer.

Setting up a router in the system

To open the router interface, you need to configure a network connection. Usually the necessary parameters are set automatically, but it would be a good idea to check that they are correct.

These are standard settings that allow the router to independently assign an address to the connected device (computer in this case) using a DHCP server.

Login to the interface

After connecting and configuring the equipment, you can proceed to resolving the issue of how to log into the router. On almost all routers, the interface address, login and password are indicated on a label located on the bottom of the device.

If there is no sticker, then you can see the address for displaying the router’s web interface in the browser using software tools:

  1. Open Network and Sharing Center.
  2. Proceed to change adapter settings.
  3. Double-click the Local Area Connection icon.
  4. Click Details and look at the Default Gateway value.

If you changed your login and password yourself, but cannot remember the new values, then use the Reset button on the router to reset its settings to factory settings. After resetting the settings, the identification data will become standard - admin/admin.

It is not necessary to look at the router address. Most manufacturers use the same address, so the procedure for launching the interface of different router models is not very different.

For example, TP-Link and D-Link routers use the IP address 192.168.0.1. After entering this value, an authorization window appears in the address bar of the browser; you need to enter your login and password in it. For some models of D-Link Dir routers, you only need to specify a login; the password line can be left blank.

Asus and Netgear routers have the default address 192.168.1.1. The login and password are also usually standard – admin/admin. But there may be options: for example, for the NETGEAR WGR614 router the login will be “admin” and the password will be “password”.

For Huawei routers, the login information is slightly different from the usual values. The address to enter the interface is 192.168.100.1. The login and password are also not quite standard - root and admin, respectively. Some models have even more complex pairs for authorization.

Zyxel Keenetic routers have an easy-to-remember address my.keenetic.net. As an alternative, the standard address 192.168.1.1 is used. The login will be the word “admin”, and the password with standard settings will be 1234.

It seems like you can get confused, but in reality everything is simple. In 90% of cases the address will be 192.168.0.1. or 192.168.1.1, and the pair for authorization is admin/admin. If these values do not allow you to open the web interface, then read the instructions carefully - the address, login and password are always indicated there.

Possible login errors

If you cannot enter the router settings using automatic settings, then try setting the login parameters manually using the router's IP address.

Knowing the router's IP address, you can manually specify the TCP/IPv4 protocol parameters:

To understand what values need to be specified, let’s take the router’s IP address - for example, 192.168.0.1. Based on this address, fill in the lines as follows:

  • IP address – 192.168.0.2 (last digit must be in the range from 2 to 254).
  • Subnet mask – 255.255.255.0 (always remains the same).
  • The main gateway is 192.168.0.1 (the router address is indicated here).
  • The preferred DNS is 192.168.0.1 (the router address is also written down).

With these settings, the problem of launching the router's web interface through a browser should be resolved. Then all you have to do is set up the Internet and create a wireless connection so that the Wi-Fi router begins to perform its functions of providing constant access to the network from different devices.
