"...one of the reliable and convenientways to copy text that is prohibited from copying programmatically , this is to extract the necessary text from the code of the copied page.

So, suppose you went to a certain Web page and with the mouse you are trying to select the fragment of text you need, but for some reason it does not want to stand out, or you managed to select the text, but the ability to copy the text did not appear, or it is not functional (the right mouse button does not respond to pressing ).

In this case, you must do the following:

In the Internet Explorer browser, go to the “View” menu, and from this menu select “View HTML Code”. In browsers Mozilla Firefox, Opera or Google Chrome It is quite acceptable to use quick or hot keys: "Ctrl +U".

After clicking the suggested combination, a new window with the source HTML code will open. Now, in order to quickly find the text fragment you need among a large number of html code characters, press the key combination "Ctrl + F". In the additional search window that opens, enter a few words that begin the fragment of text you are interested in. And click “find” with the mouse or press the “Enter” key with your finger. After you have found the required fragment of the desired text, use the mouse to select the text you are looking for. Next, press the key combination "Ctrl + C"(this combination is used to copy text to the clipboard) or as everyone has long been accustomed to - right mouse button, and then Copy. After which you can paste the copied text into any text editor convenient for you (for example Word), this can be done either by pressing the key combination “ Ctrl+V» or the usual right mouse button, and then Insert. Now the text is at your disposal and you can easily edit it. And that's all. "

Greetings, dear readers of the Rabota-Vo.ru blog! Probably, readers of my blog have already encountered sites on the Internet from which they were unable to copy the text or part of the text they needed. Of course, there are not many such sites, but they do exist. Some webmasters, for various reasons, do not want visitors to their sites to be able to copy materials for their own use.

They fear that “bad people” will use the copied (stolen) text from their site and post it on their resources, passing it off as their own texts. And they think what if protect text from copying, then it will be difficult for a “user”, a “teapot” or just a novice user to retype it again and they will simply leave the thought of copying alone.

Indeed, an inexperienced user will not be able to copy copy-protected text, that’s why he is a “user”, he has just begun to get used to the network. But should we be afraid of him, because this novice user does not yet have his own Web site, he is only looking for information on how to open his own website or blog. For now he is just a simple visitor and reader. And after he failed to make a copy of the text he liked on the site on which he is located, he is unlikely to ever want to return to it. But “bad people” who have various sites where they can actually post copied (stolen) text will bypass any text protection in seconds.

In order to be able quickly copy protected text for your own needs, it is not at all necessary to be or become a “thief”. Both Web masters and copywriters need this knowledge for their professional work. And, of course, for ordinary users for personal needs. I think that for users who want to make money by writing texts, know how to copy protected text from copying, it is simply necessary.

You and I will not be “thieves”, we will just find out how can I copy text from a website?, which has copy protection. And if you know and understand that using a copy of text on the Internet without a link to the original source is not good, then you can do rewrite Rewriting (rewriting) - Reprinting someone else’s text in your own words source text and apply it as you wish.

So, you are on a certain Web page. Hover your mouse over the piece of text you need and try to select it, but it doesn’t stand out. Or the text is highlighted, but the copy text function does not appear or is not functional.

We do the following:

In the control panel of the Internet Explorer browser, go to the “View” menu, there select “View HTML Code”.

In the browser Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Google Chrome, it is enough to use fast Hotkeys"Ctrl +U".

A new window will open with the HTML source code. In order to quickly find the text you need among the many characters of the html code, press the “Ctrl + F” keys. In the additional search window that appears, enter a few words at the beginning of the text fragment you need. And press “find” or the “Enter” key. After you find the fragments of the text you need, select the text with the mouse cursor. Next, press the “Ctrl + C” keys (this means that you copied the text to the clipboard) and paste it into any text editor convenient for you (Word, Notepad, etc.) by pressing the “Ctrl + V” keys. That's it, the text is yours, edit it as you please.

Sometimes there are Web pages on which it may not be possible to copy text using the method described above, since the text may be in the form of an image (png, jpg, pdf or other formats). Then, if you really need a copy of this text, you can do the following.

Simply, take a screenshot of the selected text area. Run the resulting image through any free online text recognition service. As a result, you will have a copy of the text that you can safely use.

If you are unable to copy texts using these methods, or someone found this procedure difficult, try using other options. By going to this link, you will learn about the simplest and easiest ways to copy pages from websites and can watch a video on this topic.

I can’t understand those Web masters who install text copy protection. After all, the most reliable way to prevent text from being copied is simply not to show it to anyone. And ordinary users (website visitors), faced with such an inconvenience, will simply stop visiting such sites.

In general, the topic of protecting text from copying from websites has nothing to do with protecting texts from theft. I decided to talk about the topic of protecting text from theft in the material How to protect text from theft where we are talking about what actions can and should be taken so that the text from the site loses its value for thieves.

With this I want to end the article and wish all my readers good luck and prosperity. See you again on the pages of the Rabota-Vo.ru blog.

You need to make a local copy of the page (screen, text or HTML file), which will be stored on disk. This way you can study the information there at any time. Of course, if a computer with the necessary data is nearby. You can transfer not only text content, but also pictures, formatting elements, and structure. Learn how to take a screenshot of a global network resource page, copy it with all graphic and multimedia content at once, or save its contents as a file.

You can transfer data from the browser to any text editor. Microsoft Word is best suited for this. It displays images and formatting correctly. Although due to the specifics of the document, advertising, menus and some frames may not look very aesthetically pleasing.

  1. Open the desired URL.
  2. Press Ctrl+A. Or right-click on any area free of pictures and flash animation and select “Select” in the context menu. This should be done to cover all the information, and not some arbitrary piece of the article.
  3. Ctrl+C. Or in the same context menu, find the “Copy” option.
  4. Open Word.
  5. Place the cursor in the document and press Ctrl+V.
  6. After this you need to save the file.

Sometimes it turns out that only the text is transferred. If you need the rest of the content, you can take that too. Here's how to copy a web resource page in its entirety - with all hyperlinks and pictures:

  1. Follow the previous steps up to point 4.
  2. Right-click in the document.
  3. In the "Paste Options" section, find the "Keep Source Formatting" button. Point it at it and the name will appear in the tooltip. If you have a computer with Office 2007, the option to select this option appears only after insertion - the corresponding icon will appear next to the added fragment.

In some cases, graphics and formatting cannot be copied. Text only. Even without division into paragraphs. But you can take a screenshot or use special software to transfer the page content to your computer.

Websites with copy protection

Sometimes a resource has so-called “Copy Protection”. The problem is that the text on them cannot be selected or moved to another place. But this limitation can be circumvented. Here's how to do it:

  1. Right-click anywhere on the page.
  2. Select Source Code or View Code.
  3. A window will open in which all the information is in html tags.
  4. To find the desired piece of text, press Ctrl+F and enter part of the word or sentence in the field that appears. The searched passage will be shown, which you can select and copy.

If you want to save an entire site to your computer, you don’t need to completely remove the tags so that only useful information remains. You can use any html editor. For example, FrontPage is suitable. No knowledge of web design is required.

  1. Select all html code.
  2. Open your web page editor.
  3. Copy this code there.
  4. Go to preview mode to see what the copy will look like.
  5. Go to File - Save As. Select the file type (it is better to leave the default HTML), specify the path to the folder where it will be located, and confirm the action. It will be saved on an electronic computer.

Copy protection can be tied to some js script. To disable it, you need to disable JavaScript in your browser. This can be done in your web browser settings. But because of this, sometimes the parameters of the entire page are lost. It will not display correctly or give an error. After all, there are many different scripts running there, and not just one that blocks the selection.

If the service has such protection, it is better to figure out how to copy the global network resource page in another way. For example, you can take a screenshot.

Screenshot

  1. Go to the desired portal.
  2. Press the PrintScreen button on your keyboard (sometimes called "PrntScr" or "PrtSc"). The screenshot will be added to the clipboard - temporary storage used during Copy-Paste operations.
  3. Open any graphics editor. The Windows operating system has its own - called “Paint”. You can use it. It allows you to crop and slightly adjust the screenshot. For more serious graphics editing, you need to install professional programs on your computer (Adobe Photoshop, for example). But to simply make a copy of the page, Windows’ own tools are enough.
  4. Paste the screenshot into the editor. To do this, press Ctrl+V.
  5. You can also add it to a word processor (the same Word), which supports working with graphics.

The information will be presented as a solid picture, rather than a set of symbols. If you need to copy some part of the material, you will have to retype it manually. After all, a screenshot is not an article. To make the task easier, use utilities for recognizing text from pictures.

This makes it convenient to copy small pieces. But with voluminous content it’s more difficult. You will have to take a lot of pictures, scroll, and open the editor often. But you can figure out how to take a screenshot of the entire portal page, and not part of it. Use specialized programs.

Utilities for taking screenshots

There are programs for working with screenshots. With their help, you can cover the content completely, rather than screenshot it in pieces.

  • A popular application with a variety of functionality.
  • Web browser extension. You can take a picture of the entire page by simply clicking a button on the toolbar.
  • Shoots everything that can be captured: arbitrary areas, windows, large web resources. There are tools for editing the resulting images and a library of effects.
  • Automatically scrolls, takes a series of frames and independently combines them into one screenshot.

There are also online services that can generate a snapshot. They work on the same principle: insert a website address and get a picture. Here are some of them.

  • Capture Full Page
  • Web Screenshots
  • Thumbalizr
  • Snapito

Save as HTML file

Here's how to save a global network resource page to your computer in html format. It can later be converted to another type. When copying in this way, pictures from the web portal are placed in a separate folder, which will have the same name as the html file and is located in the same location as it.

  1. Open the site.
  2. Right-click anywhere free from pictures, backgrounds, videos and animations.
  3. Select "Save As". In Mozilla Firefox, a similar button can be found in the menu. To do this, click on the icon with three horizontal lines. In Opera, these settings are called up by clicking on the logo.
  4. Set a name. Specify the path.
  5. Confirm the action.

In Google Chrome, you can create a PDF file from a page. This function is intended for printing on a printer. But copying to a computer is also available.

  1. Click on the icon in the form of three lines (they are at the top right).
  2. Click "Print" or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+P.
  3. Click "Edit".
  4. “Save as PDF” item.
  5. On the left panel, click the button with the same name again.
  6. Give the file a name and path.

This feature is available exclusively in Chrome. Other web browsers require plugins. Printpdf for Firefox and Web2PDFConvert for Opera.

Utilities for saving entire sites

There are programs for copying entire global network resources. That is, with all the content, transitions, menus, links. You can “walk” on such a page as if you were on a real one. The following utilities are suitable for this:

  • HTTrack Website Copier.
  • Local Website Archive.
  • Teleport Pro.
  • WebCopier Pro.

There are many ways to transfer a website page to a PC. Which one to choose depends on your needs. If you want to save information to study it later, a simple screenshot is enough. But when you need to work with this data, edit it, add it to documents, it is better to copy it or create an html file.

I am surprised by those who provide copy protection on websites. It's easy to get around it. Including by disabling JavaScript.

Managing JavaScript in Opera

When using Opera, disabling it is a matter of a couple of clicks. Just press F12 and turn off JavaScript. After this simple manipulation, the plugin for the most popular WordPress blog script called WP-CopyProtect will stop working. Same with other “protections”.

Managing JavaScript in Google Chrome

When using any other browser, you can also turn off scripts. At the same time, say, Google Chrome allows you to disable or enable scripts for specific sites. True, the settings are a little hidden:

  1. Settings

  2. Show advanced settings

  3. Under your personal data, click on the "Content settings..." button

  4. JavaScript settings are located in the corresponding block with the same name.

  5. Enable/disable scripts for all sites. To create rules for specific sites, click "Manage exceptions".

Managing JavaScript in Agnitum Outpost Pro / Security Internet

In addition, firewalls like Agnitum Outpost Pro / Security Internet allow you to create individual rules for sites. These settings can be used to disable/enable JavaScript on specific sites.

An example of poor implementation of disabling JavaScript scripts

On the website indriksons.ru, registration is now required to read articles. In this case, after activating the account, a warning appears stating that copying articles from the site is prohibited, indicating the articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. All protection comes down to the fact that the right mouse button is blocked. The developers tried to prohibit copying, but CTRL+C works great. I’m generally silent about the lesser-known combination CTRL+INS.

Here is its implementation (JavaScript code only): http://pastebin.com/jqhPXw2n
Compare with the more powerful WP-CopyRightPro implementation, which even blocks drag-n-drop (JavaScript code only): http://pastebin.com/Vaictfdh

But the most interesting thing is that the site publishes articles from magazines and other sites, including Forbes, MetrInfo.ru. At the same time, not a single active link to the original article or publication was noticed in dozens of articles.

In Evernote, of course, you will have to copy articles or send them by e-mail, and not use Web Clipper. But you can still save the selected fragments. That. It just creates inconvenience for readers, nothing more. Well, okay, I’ll use other sources, for example, the same MetrInfo. There are still no original materials on the site. And you won’t have to remove the bold from the author’s name, which may appear several times in the article.

There are a considerable number of sites where copying of the presented material is prohibited, for example, the fairly well-known literary era (litera). Typically, such sites ask you to pay for access to their material and only then open access to it. Let's consider several options that will help us get the necessary material without saying “thank you” to the author in monetary format.

View copy-protected page source code

The first option, which is most often used in such situations to download text, is to view the source code of the page. To do this, use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+U. This command will open the source code of the page. Here you will find not only the material that we see on the site, but also code in HTML, PHP, CSS and other languages. Thanks to this code, the site looks exactly the way we see it. But we are not interested in the code. We are interested in the material. If you do a little searching on the source code page, you can find the place where the material we need is contained. Now nothing prevents you from copying this text.

This happens because everyone can access the source code of the page. First of all, your browser should receive the source code of the page, and then draw this page in front of you. And if the browser does not receive the source code of the page, then no one will see this page. And if a browser can access protected text, that means everyone can access it. The main thing is to know how.

Find out protected text by trick

Open this site, or rather one of its pages at http://student.zoomru.ru/arhi/tipy-okon-ih-harakteristiki/259627.2256299.s1.html We will use it as the basis for our experiments. You can check that the site prompts you to register when you try to select text. We don't need this. Following the first method, you can safely open the source code of the page and copy the material. But let's try a more interesting and fun way.

The site does not allow us to select text. So let him do it himself. What are we doing? Find the place where you would like to copy the text. Let's say we need all the text. It begins (on the presented page) with the words “To date, the share...”. Now, open the search window that opens when you press the keys Ctrl+F. Enter these words into this window exactly in the order they appear in the sentence, taking into account case. The browser will highlight for us all occurrences of the selected words on this page. If there are several of them, you can use the arrows to move to the one you need. Once you reach the one that should be the beginning of the text you are highlighting, close the search window. After closing the search window, our search words will remain highlighted. We bypassed the protection and highlighted text that is protected from copying.

Now it's a matter of small things. While holding down the key Shift, use the arrows to increase or decrease the selected area of text. As soon as you select the fragment that you need, press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+C. Keyboard shortcut Ctrl+C similar to the context menu item with the name Copy. After this, you need to paste the selected text into any place you like.

Disable JavaScript on the page

Another fairly simple way to copy text from a secure site is to turn off use on the page. Since, basically, the ban on copying text is the result of the activity of a certain js file that is executed on the user’s side, a ban on its execution will remove any protection from the page being viewed. Only in this case is it possible that the page will not be displayed correctly.

conclusions

Any security system can be bypassed. Even if the site administrator has prohibited copying text, you can always reach them. Moreover, it is quite simple.
