The most powerful smartphones. The most powerful smartphones Top most powerful flagship phones

Many new products are constantly appearing on the mobile device market. Choosing between them can be a difficult task for an unprepared person. For you, we have compiled a list of 10 mobile phone models released in 2016 that are definitely worth paying attention to. So, we present to you the Top 10 the best smartphones of 2016. The list also includes new products from Chinese phone manufacturers.

1. Samsung Galaxy S7

  • operating system: Android 6.0
  • Number of SIM cards: 2
  • CPU: Samsung Exynos 8 Octa 8890 (8 cores)
  • RAM (GB): 4
  • Built-in memory (GB): 32
  • Camera: 12 Mpx
  • Screen (inches): 5.1
  • Battery

Samsung does not stand still, continuing to develop the Galaxy line. Their new development is Galasy S7, if not the best smartphone of 2016, then the most popular in Russia for sure. The developers took into account the wishes of customers and returned the slot for memory cards in this model. The camera's resolution has been reduced, but the quality of images taken in low light has been significantly improved. Thanks to the beveled edges of the back panel, the phone now fits more comfortably in the hand.

A powerful eight-core processor and 4 gigabytes of RAM allow this smartphone to be one of the most powerful mobile phones of 2016. At the same time, the battery life ranges from one to two days, depending on the activity of use. The device also supports two wireless charging standards and a power saving mode. And fans of the latest technologies will be impressed by the ability to use the phone as a screen for virtual reality glasses. Plus: the developer claims that the smartphone is reliably protected from water.

2. Xiaomi Mi5

  • operating system: Android 6.0
  • Number of SIM cards: 2
  • CPU
  • RAM (GB): 3
  • Built-in memory (GB): 32
  • Camera: 16 Mpx
  • Screen (inches): 5.15
  • Battery: 3000 mAh (Quick Charge 3.0, wireless charging)

This smartphone is often compared to the Samsung Galaxy S 7. They are indeed similar in many ways, starting with the use of glass, the quality of the coating, both sides and rounded corners. This smartphone does not have a slot for memory cards; you will have to be content with a capacity of 32, 64 or 128 GB, depending on the version. At the same time, Xiaomi Mi5 has high performance and successfully solves almost any problem. But you will have to pay for this with frequent trips to the outlet; the phone battery does not last long. But all the shortcomings fade due to the low cost of the phone. It will cost almost twice as much as its competitors, which have similar performance characteristics.

Low cost and high performance allow us to call this smartphone one of the best phones of 2016, in terms of price-quality ratio.

3. LG G5

  • operating system: Android 6.0
  • Number of SIM cards: 2
  • CPU: Qualcomm MSM 8996 Snapdragon 820 (4 cores)
  • RAM (GB): 4
  • Built-in memory (GB): 32
  • Camera: 16 Mpx
  • Screen (inches): 5.3
  • Battery: 2800 mAh (Quick Charge 3.0)

LG rightfully calls this phone modular. Unlike other smartphones, it has a removable battery. In addition, you can purchase two modules, one of which increases the battery capacity and, due to the location of the zoom and flash keys, will be convenient for taking a large number of photographs. Another module will be of interest to music lovers, as it increases the quality of the reproduced sound to 32 bits. On average, the charge on the phone lasts about 10 hours. It uses a rare type of USB and does not support wireless charging, which is not very convenient.

4.

  • operating system: Android 6.0
  • Number of SIM cards: 2
  • CPU: Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (4 cores)
  • RAM (GB): 4
  • Built-in memory (GB): 32
  • Camera: 12 Mpx
  • Screen (inches): 5.2
  • Battery: 3000 mAh (Quick Charge 3.0)

This model is a worthy representative among the new smartphones of 2016. In terms of performance characteristics, NTS 10 is in no way inferior to market leaders, and in some tests even beats them. The filling is protected by a metal case that will withstand many falls, but you should not drop it on purpose . The 32 GB memory can be expanded using MicroSD cards. The smartphone boasts very high quality sound. It is worth noting that HTC 10 uses UltraPixel 2 technology. Thanks to this, during testing, the smartphone camera showed the same results as the Samsung Galaxy S7. The disadvantages include the fact that the HTC 10 does not have water protection, like some flagship models from other smartphone manufacturers. The price may be a little high, but overall, the mobile phone is powerful and functional and rightfully deserves a place in the top ten best smartphones for 2016.

5.

  • operating system: Android 5.0
  • Number of SIM cards: 2
  • CPU: Qualcomm MSM 8916 Snapdragon 410 (4 cores)
  • RAM (GB): 2
  • Built-in memory (GB): 16
  • Camera: 13 Mpx
  • Screen (inches): 5.5
  • Battery: 5000 mAh

This device stands out primarily for its long operating time and low cost. Therefore, this phone model is one of the best smartphones of 2016 in terms of price-quality ratio. The ability to charge a smartphone once every few days will surprise many, because most manufacturers are chasing performance, forgetting that sockets are not found at every step. The processor is not the latest model and only 2 GB of RAM will not allow you to play games with advanced graphics or get high scores in performance tests. But they are quite enough to solve everyday problems. The phone doesn't support fast charging, doesn't have a super-clear screen or high-quality sound. But it is well suited for a person who wants to stay in touch.

6.

  • operating system: Android 6.0
  • Number of SIM cards: 2
  • CPU: Huawei Kirin 955 (8 cores)
  • RAM (GB): 3
  • Built-in memory (GB): 32
  • Camera: 12 Mpx
  • Screen (inches): 5.2
  • Battery: 3000 mAh

A distinctive feature of this smartphone is the presence of two main cameras at once, with optics from the legendary camera manufacturer Leica. This allows you to achieve high quality photographs, despite the low resolution of the matrices. In addition, a large number of settings and shooting modes are available, making this device an excellent choice for the avid photographer. Huawei P9 handles modern games well, and the 32 GB memory can be expanded using MicroSD cards. The special coating allows you to quickly clean your phone from greasy fingerprints. The battery lasts on average for a day of work, and a full charge is carried out in 1.5 hours.

7.

  • operating system: Android 6.0
  • Number of SIM cards: 2
  • CPU: Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 (6 cores)
  • RAM (GB): 3
  • Built-in memory (GB): 32
  • Camera: 23 Mpx
  • Screen (inches): 5.2
  • Battery: 2620 mAh

This smartphone will be a good choice for a person who wants to get good performance and many accessible features without overpaying for a well-promoted brand. Without a doubt, we can say that the Sony Xperia X is one of the best smartphones of 2016. The body is made of metal, unlike many modern smartphones, which use glass on both sides. The performance is at the level of models in the price category from 30 thousand rubles, it is quite enough to solve everyday problems. The camera is high-resolution and differs from others by the presence of tracking autofocus, which predicts where the subject will be. Perhaps the main drawback is that the battery is not very powerful, which affects autonomy.

8.

  • operating system: Android 6.0
  • Number of SIM cards: 2
  • CPU: MediaTek Helio X25 (10 cores)
  • RAM (GB): 4
  • Built-in memory (GB): 32
  • Camera: 21.16 Mpx
  • Screen (inches): 5.2
  • Battery: 2560 mAh (mCharge 3.0)

Since Meizu began its history with the production of MP3 players, the sound in this smartphone is better than that of the rest of the list. The screen has good viewing angles, which allows you to watch videos with a large group. Performance is at a decent level. Meizu Pro 6 performs well both in games and when performing ordinary tasks, and there are no stutters. This is not surprising, because here the ten-core processor works with 4 GB of RAM. Such power, coupled with a small-capacity battery, affects autonomy. In normal use, the smartphone will last about a day. The Meizu Pro 6 phone, thanks to its technical characteristics and relatively low cost, is one of the best smartphones of 2016.

9.

  • operating system:Windows 10 Mobile
  • Number of SIM cards: 2
  • CPU: Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 (4 cores)
  • RAM (GB): 1
  • Built-in memory (GB): 16
  • Camera: 8 Mpx
  • Screen (inches): 5
  • Battery: 2000 mAh

The only participant on our list that uses Windows 10 as the operating system. It may be deterred by its small battery capacity, only 2000 mAh. But this smartphone does not use the most powerful processor, plus the operating system is well optimized. So it lasts for 2 days with not very active use. And if desired, this period can be extended twice. The phone copes with everyday tasks and watching videos without any lag, as long as you don’t run several applications at the same time. Its camera allows you to take good pictures. The quality of the reproduced sound is also excellent.

10. Apple iPhone SE

  • operating system: iOS 9
  • Number of SIM cards: 2
  • CPU: Apple A9 (2 cores)
  • RAM (GB): 2
  • Built-in memory (GB): 16
  • Camera: 12 Mpx
  • Screen (inches): 4
  • Battery: 1624 mAh

The list of the best phone models for 2016 would be incomplete without a smartphone from Apple. Its body is very similar to that of the iPhone 5s, but the hardware has changed significantly. Its modest dimensions make it easy to fit in your pocket, but not everyone will like the small four-inch screen. A dual-core processor combined with 2 GB of RAM easily solves all everyday tasks. You can easily browse the Internet with many tabs open, play the latest games and watch videos. Models with 16 and 64 GB of memory are available; there is no slot for memory cards.

The best smartphone of 2016| Video

“All these years we sold Nexus at a low price, like fools, by God. But Apple is cutting money - we need to join the premium too,” the guys from Google decided and released smartphones of the Pixel family. To ensure that the new “super-prestigious” Google Phone is not confused with its cheap predecessors, the developers at all presentations persistently emphasized that this is an “all-new” (“completely new”) smartphone, which was not developed by subsidiary brands (LG/Samsung/Huawei/HTC/ Motorola), and Google itself! However, it’s no secret that HTC, respected by Google, still assembles smartphones.

But we are less interested in politics and marketing; let’s talk about the technical component. In this regard, the new Google Phone pleases with an excellent camera (the best among smartphones in general, according to some experts), a good AMOLED display and a very powerful Snapdragon 821 processor with ideal system optimization.

By the way, about the system - now it has been added exclusivity and the latest “empty” Android Nougat has been given a new design, and English-speaking users can already talk to a smartphone like a person. That is, no more “inexpensive pickled cucumbers in Moscow” - you can immediately address them with the phrase “Pixel, where can you buy a good snack nearby?” Pleasant innovations? Yes, simply excellent! The Pixel design is a little strange, but the smartphones cannot be confused with anything else.

Another question is that the 8.5 mm thick model (like the Xiaomi Redmi 3S with 4100 mAh) houses a 2770 mAh battery with a ridiculous capacity. However, thanks to the perfectly optimized Android and AMOLED matrix, the Pixel will still last the day. But almost any flagship smartphone is more compact than the new Google phones, which don’t even bother to implement optical stabilization in the camera.

And the main thing is that such pleasure costs from 50 to 65 thousand rubles, even just in terms of European prices (Russians are so rich that smartphones in the Russian Federation usually cost more than in Europe). Would you like to shell out a thousand dollars for a “prestigious” Google nameplate? Yes, everyone already understands that you don’t want to, and that’s why Pixels are not sold in Russia. And for 65 thousand in Russia, smart guys buy an iPhone 7 Plus with 128 GB of memory from gray suppliers or a still cool Samsung Galaxy S7 edge for 40 thousand. And they do it right.

The Pixel is an excellent model in its own right and the best alternative to the great and terrible iPhone (which is why the smartphone made the list). But for record-breaking performance at a high price, we already have Samsung, and Google’s “unique” software can even be made to work on cheap smartphones. That is, no matter what Google creates, it turns out to be Nexus. Only this time, an expensive, slightly strange Nexus that does not encourage reflashing, which did not manage to jump higher than its glass “head”.

4. Honor 8

In contrast to Google, Huawei knows a lot about “color differentiation” and has been successfully selling almost identical smartphones under different nameplates for a couple of years now. For image-conscious citizens, mobile phones under the name Huawei are coming out. And for everyone who doesn’t care about Scarlett Johansson and the nameplate of partner brands, the Chinese offer Honor models.

So in 2016, engineers “re-shoeed” the expensive Huawei P9 into a glass case, dismantled the Leica logo and began selling this model 40% cheaper than the flagship. Even by Russian standards, Honor 8, worth 28 thousand rubles, looks very cool - of similar quality models, only the “gray” versions of Xiaomi and Meizu are cheaper.

And you can’t say that Huawei saved money on customers in any way: a good fast processor (although not as cool as your Snapdragon 820), two cool rear cameras with which you can “blur” the background in photographs, a high-quality display. Honor 8 is not a flagship of the “nowhere better” format - it is rather a middle ground between expensive “top models” and middle-class smartphones. Such smartphones have become an endangered species - Chinese brands are now arrogant and strive to compete in price with Samsung, so it was impossible not to mention the “anti-crisis” Honor in a special manner.

3. Apple iPhone 7 Plus

iPhone just got better. Better by N percent, because it is not proper for noble dons to focus on the characteristics of mobile phones. Parasite designers, apparently, are still having unbridled fun with uninhibited girls and “washing powder” (iPhone 6 with almost the same appearance appeared in September 2014). But the revolution, comrades, begins from the grassroots, and iPhone buyers are still satisfied with the case design. Moreover, lovers of innovation still received the standard “glossy black” color - an important detail for those who want their new iPhone to be immediately distinguished from the old one.

In general, improved versions of the iPhone with the same body design usually receive the additional index S, but the name iPhone 6SS would sound provocative, and, frankly, enough technical innovations have accumulated to change generations.

Apple iPhone 7 Plus

Judge for yourself: a new touch-sensitive Home key with imitation pressing, “identical to natural”. Water protection, which is not very useful in everyday use, but reduces the risk of “killing” a smartphone with liquid. Stereo speakers in a very compact body and a processor that, with four cores at a mediocre frequency, outshines all Qualcomm and MediaTek brands of any degree. 2x optical zoom (a small thing, it doesn’t always work, but it’s still useful). And this despite the fact that the iPhone, as we know, has never competed with rivals for show on the principle of “who has it longer”!

The iPhone 7 Plus still has a lot of shortcomings: ridiculous strap-worthiness, no support for fast charging, rather dismal shooting quality compared to Android flagships, a headphone jack amputated “for fun” or out of Apple’s greed.

Apple iPhone 7 Plus

But in order to criticize, you need to offer something in return. Google Pixel is not sold in Russia, and it can no longer boast of the slogan “Android smartphones are always cooler for the same price.” The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge has reached “retirement” age on the assembly line, but is still too expensive, has a modest 32 gigabytes of internal memory (a little more than 20 GB is available for games and applications), and is easily soiled and fragile. It is, of course, very technological in itself, but has changed little since the time of the “breakthrough” S6 edge. And there are already enough high-quality and cheaper flagships based on Android.

With such a preamble, the iPhone award sounds like glorifying the best of the worst smartphones, but Apple’s flagship still “raises the bar” with each new generation by a sufficient amount so that iPhone users do not migrate to Android phones and do not envy Samsung Galaxy users.

2. Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime

They did not expect? But I think that the budget Xiaomi fully deserves such honors. Because Redmi has become a symbol and the most desirable budget smartphone during the crisis period not only in Russia, but also in other post-Soviet republics. To be honest, in 2016 Xiaomi made two “revolutions” at once - first, in January, Redmi 3 was born, which brought an unprecedented 8-core processor (not cheap, from Kvalkom bottling!) and a metal case to the budget ranks. And at the end of the year, when Huawei and Meizu released response smartphones, Xiaomi “finished off” all competitors with the release of Redmi 4 Prime.

A bright Full HD display in a smartphone for 8-9 thousand rubles! The coolest Snapdragon 625 - before this it was found in models at least 3 times more expensive! And a capacious battery that lasts all this stuff in a thin case for a long time.

Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime

Why not Xiaomi Mi Mix? Because now it is a very expensive and not very practical prototype smartphone with a flagship processor, but a mediocre camera. Why not Redmi Note 3? Because there is nothing breakthrough in it - Note 3 became a “restyling” of Redmi Note 2, and Note 3 Pro just received a slightly faster and more intelligent processor. Xiaomi Mi5, over time, also looks like “just” another inexpensive Chinese flagship, but the “compact” Redmi is developing much more sharply.

And I understand those who believe that such portions of praise for a budget smartphone are unnecessary. Still, you will have to polish it and Russify it yourself, the cameras in Redmi 4 are still mediocre, fast charging again is not supported due to savings on components.

Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime

But there hasn’t been anything cooler in the budget class, no, and there won’t be in the foreseeable future - in exchange for 8-10 thousand you can “taste” quad-core models from slightly more arrogant vendors that are disgusting in terms of speed and quality, or, at best, buy a plastic Meiza at based on a “deformed” old MediaTek processor. Moreover, if there have never been problems in choosing good and expensive smartphones, then Redmi almost single-handedly defends the honor of truly cool budget models, for which it receives “silver” in our rating today.

There was a time when computers operated using a simple single-core processor. But gradually the power of the components began to increase. Then something similar began to happen with smartphones. Nowadays, many models cope with various tasks better and faster than a desktop computer, not to mention a laptop! In today's selection we will look at the most powerful smartphones. In this case, we will focus on AnTuTu, since it is it that best evaluates the performance of portable equipment. Data is as of February 2019.

What does power depend on?

The results of benchmark testing are influenced by a variety of components:

  • CPU- it is this that is the key to power; with a weak chipset, no other component can provide high speed;
  • RAM- the number of simultaneously running applications depends on its volume, and its functionality is also affected by its throughput;
  • Persistent memory- if it is slow, then the programs will work very slowly;
  • Graphics accelerator- Playing videos and launching 3D games depend on it.

The remaining components affect the breadth of functionality rather than performance.

Huawei Mate 20

  • CPU: Kirin 970, 8 cores, 2*2.6 GHz, 2*1.92 GHz, 4*1.8 GHz
  • Graphics accelerator: Mali-G76
  • RAM:
  • AnTuTu benchmark rating: 303903

Price: 37,990 rub.

The fastest device as of February 2019 remains the Mate 20. The device received a chipset of Huawei’s own design and, as tests show, this solution is the most effective, overtaking the top-end Snapdragon 845 processor. The model is interesting not only for its performance, but also for its new body coating, which is designed to improve the aesthetic impression and successfully prevent fingerprints. The device has an excellent camera with three matrices - 8+12+16 megapixels, SuperCharge, a good level of autonomy and high-quality sound with Dolby Atmos.

Advantages:

Flaws:

  • None.

Honor Magic 2

  • CPU:
  • Graphics accelerator: Mali-G76
  • RAM: 6 GB
  • AnTuTu benchmark rating: 298628

Price – from 37,000 rubles.

Advantages:

Flaws:

  • The case quickly becomes covered with fingerprints, which significantly spoils the impression.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro

  • CPU: Kirin 980, 8 cores, 2*2.6 GHz, 2*1.92 GHz, 4*1.58 GHz
  • Graphics accelerator: Mali-G76
  • RAM: 6 GB
  • AnTuTu benchmark rating: 297294

Price: from 55,490 rubles.

Third place in the ranking is occupied by the older version of Mate 20, marked Pro. The device features a more recent chipset, has an AMOLED matrix compared to the previous device, and also has a different cutout - “eyebrow” versus “drop”. The device features an increased battery capacity of 4200 mAh, as well as support for fast and wireless charging technology. Mate 20 Pro can become a power bank for another smartphone. The device has IP68 water resistance, which makes it more interesting, but the most important advantage is the powerful camera, recognized as one of the best in the world in 2018. It consists of three modules – 40+20+8 MP s. The device has a full set of interfaces, including NFC. Stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos are responsible for the sound.

Advantages:

Flaws:

  • Type-C does not always accept external media correctly.

OnePlus 6T

  • CPU: Snapdragon 845, 8 cores, 4*2.8 GHz, 4*1.7 GHz
  • Graphics accelerator: Adreno 630
  • RAM: 6/8 GB
  • AnTuTu benchmark rating: 296010

Price: from 34,000 rubles.

Xiaomi Mi5S

  • CPU: Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 MSM 8996 Pro
  • Graphics accelerator: Adreno 530
  • RAM: 4 GB
  • AnTuTu benchmark rating: 144,135 points

Price: 25,400 rub.

This Chinese smartphone not only has a powerful processor, but also a large number of wireless modules. In particular, the device transmits data via LTE-A category twelve. The 12-megapixel camera resolution may seem insufficient to some, but in practice this is quite enough to get a high-quality photo. In addition, the main camera is complemented by an optical image stabilizer, and its aperture is widened to f/2. Nothing like this can be said about the front camera alone - it really raises questions.

Advantages

  • Many wireless modules (including Wi-Fi 802.11ac);
  • Not a bad main camera;
  • There is a version with 128 GB of permanent memory;
  • Good IPS display;
  • You can install two SIM cards;
  • There is a fingerprint scanner.

Flaws

  • The simplest front camera (4 MP);
  • No memory card slot;
  • Not the best sound quality and volume.

OnePlus OnePlus3

  • CPU: MSM8996
  • Graphics accelerator: Adreno 530
  • RAM: 6 GB
  • AnTuTu benchmark rating: 140,288 points

Price: 34,700 rub.

This is not the most expensive device, especially if you order it outside of Russia. At the same time, it has very powerful components, although they are one generation behind devices released in 2016. On the front panel of the smartphone there is a 5.5-inch screen created using AMOLED technology and having Full HD resolution. However, many buyers note that even despite such an LCD panel, the device cannot provide long-term battery life. But it supports a large number of wireless communication standards

Advantages

  • Maximum amount of RAM;
  • Very good cameras (16 and 8 megapixels);
  • AMOLED screen with high pixel density;
  • It is possible to install two SIM cards.

Flaws

  • There is no memory card slot;
  • Not the longest operating time;
  • Not the best software.

Vivo Xplay5

  • CPU: Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 MSM8976
  • Graphics accelerator: Adreno 510
  • RAM: 4 GB
  • AnTuTu benchmark rating: 138,706 points

Price: 29,700 rub.

Many Android smartphones are distributed all over the world. But some models are only sold in certain countries. For example, if it is possible to find Xplay5 in Russia, it is with great difficulty. Most often, this device is ordered from Chinese online stores. The phone is relatively inexpensive and deservedly ranks among the most powerful devices. At the same time, the smartphone offers high-speed Internet access via Wi-Fi 802.11ac or LTE. But its main advantage is an AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels - until some time only Samsung could build such screens into its products.

Advantages

  • There is a version with 128 GB of memory;
  • The screen is created using AMOLED technology and has high resolution;
  • Good cameras (16 and 8 megapixels);
  • Many wireless modules;
  • Decent battery life.

Flaws

  • There is no microSD card slot;
  • Old Android 5.1.

Conclusion

Attentive readers may have noticed that market leaders Samsung and Apple were not included in the top most productive smartphones. This confirms that the companies have very serious competitors. If the trend does not change, then both brands may lose their market share, because in terms of other indicators, China and other countries have long looked no worse.

When selecting the fastest smartphones of 2016, the resource AndroidAuthority.com did a very simple thing, including in this list 10 popular flagships with the most powerful processors and the largest amount of RAM. The Best Performance of Android 2016 includes the following devices:

The fastest smartphones 2016: technical process, cores and RAM

Six mobile devices from this list are powered by the 4-core Snapdragon 820. Two devices are built on the 4-core Snapdragon 821. In addition, the list includes one smartphone each based on the 8-core Kirin 960 and Exynos 8890 chipsets. All chips except Kirin 960 is built on a 14nm process technology. The chip from HiSilicon was created using 16-nanometer technology, so Huawei Mate 9 was not initially expected to produce particularly high results.

Eight devices from the TOP most productive smartphones of 2016 received 4 GB of RAM. However, the list included OnePlus 3T with 6 GB of RAM and Sony Xperia XZ, which has 3 GB of RAM. Therefore, the outsiders and winners of a number of tests were predetermined at the start.

How to choose the fastest smartphone

After compiling the TOP list, AndroidAuthority.com employees only had to decide which smartphone was the fastest. To do this, they subjected the above-mentioned gadgets to seven tests:

  1. AnTuTu
  2. GeekBench 4
  3. Basemark OS II
  4. Vellamo
  5. Jet Stream
  6. 3DMark
  7. GFXBench

The most powerful AnTuTu smartphone

The classic test that determines the most productive smartphone - AnTuTu - showed the following three winners:

  1. OnePlus 3T
  2. Moto Z Force Droid
  3. LG V20

At the same time, even the weakest smartphone, according to AnTuTu (Xiaomi Mi 5), scored more than 120,000 points, leaving far behind the fastest Android smartphone from 2015, which scored only 70,000 points.

GeekBench 4

The compilers of GeekBench 4 offer performance measurements in single-core and multi-core operating modes, so the most productive smartphone of 2016, according to this test, was predetermined in advance - Huawei Mate 9 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, assembled on the basis of 8-core chips, left far behind all 4-core ones. nuclear competitors.

Basemark OS II

The Basemark OS II testing program involves measuring device performance, based on the potential of all hardware - from the graphics accelerator and RAM module to the processor and smartphone camera matrix. The winners of Basemark OS II were:

  1. OnePlus 3T
  2. Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge
  3. Huawei Mate 9

The worst result was shown by Xiaomi Mi 5.

Vellamo

The Vellamo test evaluates the performance of a mobile device while working with web content. At the same time, they test both work in the browser and hardware with multi-core operation mode. The winner of the Vellamo web test is the Galaxy S7 Edge. Well, the “hardware” part of this testing program was won by OnePlus 3T.

Jet Stream

Testing using the Jet Stream program involves assessing work using 39 performance criteria. At the end of the test, the results are included in the overall standings. The evaluation program consists of JavaScript tests and focuses on the most advanced applications. The best results in this set of tests were shown by: Huawei Mate 9, OnePlus 3T and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. The last one on the list is Xiaomi Mi 5.

3DMark

Testing using the 3DMark program involves assessing the performance of the device’s graphics cores. However, its results are also influenced by the display resolution parameters - the smaller they are, the higher the likelihood of receiving maximum scores. From the AndroidAuthority.com TOP list, the following smartphones showed the maximum results in 3DMark: OnePlus 3T, Huawei Mate 9 and ZTE Axon 7.

GFXBench

The GFXBench test allows you to evaluate the device's performance in gaming applications, focusing on the same criteria as 3DMark. In this case, both 1080p resolution and 1440p images (Manhattan 3.1.1 for OpenGL ES 3.1) are evaluated. The winners of GFXBench according to T-Rex benchmarks were ZTE Axon 7 and Xiaomi Mi 5. Sony Xperia XZ and OnePlus 3T were recognized as leaders according to Manhattan 3.1 benchmarks.

And the winner of the ranking of the most productive smartphones is...

The fastest smartphones of 2016. Final rating
SmartphoneFinal result
1 OnePlus 3T9.07
2 Huawei Mate 97.79
3 Sony Xperia XZ6.79
4 ZTE Axon 75.86
5 Moto Z Force Droid5.64
6 Google Pixel XL5.29
7 Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge5.00
8 LG V204.57
9 Xiaomi Mi 53.14
10 HTC 102.12

As you can see: the 6 GB of RAM of the OnePlus 3T did its job, as did the 8 cores of the Huawei Mate 9 processor. However, in third place in the list of the most productive smartphones was the seemingly outsider Sony Xperia XZ with 3 GB of RAM and the most common Snapdragon 820 processor. Why did he rise that high?

The secret of this breakthrough lies in the screen resolution - the Sony Xperia XZ, like the OnePlus 3T and Huawei Mate 9, has a display matrix configured for a Full HD image (1920x1080 pixels). Other phones are equipped with QHD (2560x1440 pixels) resolution displays, which overload the processors, stealing some of the processing power. That is why the winners of Best Display of Android 2016 were included in the list of outsiders of Best Performance of Android 2016.

Simply put: the results of this rating showed that the buyer of smartphones from 2016 will have to choose between performance or picture quality. Well, for those who do not want to part with a high-quality QHD picture, trying to get the best possible performance, the AndroidAuthority.com resource recommends paying attention to lines 4-8 in the Best Performance of Android 2016 rating.

You can compare the prices and characteristics of the smartphones featured in the publication (as well as any other phones) in one table in our catalog.
1. Go to the “Catalog” section (in the main menu). Enter in the search bar (in the Basic Filters block) the name of the model you are interested in. Click the New Search button.
2. Next, in the search bar, enter the name of the model with which you want to compare. Click the "Add" button. The message “Data loaded into table” appears.
3. Then you can add a third, fourth (and so on) phone for comparison, repeating the steps in the second step.
4. To remove duplicate models (in different colors), check the box next to the name of the smartphone and click the “Compare” button under the table. Now you will see in one table only the characteristics of the models you are interested in without duplicates.
5. To compare smartphones based on specific characteristics, check the boxes next to the corresponding characteristic in the “Table Settings” block.
6. Adding models can be done at any stage - the table settings you select are saved, and so are the selected models.

Top 10 most powerful smartphones of 2018-2019 according to AnTuTu. Almost every month, manufacturers delight us with new top-end flagships. But in order to purchase a smartphone for 3 years and not have it become outdated, it is advisable to purchase top models.

Rating spring 2018

With the release of the latest version of the top processor from Qualcomm – Snapdragon 835, the first positions in the ranking of the most powerful smartphones have changed. The new products equipped with it took the lead, and the previously leading iPhone based on the Fusion A10 chipset was displaced.

The fact that a flagship smartphone with top-end hardware is purchased for more than one year is evidenced by the presence in the rating of a device equipped with a previous generation processor – Snapdragon 825. This was the One Plus 3T, equipped with a monstrous 6 GB of RAM.

As usual, smartphones powered by Kirin, Exynos and MediaTek processors were left out of this rating.

OnePlus 5

In the previous edition of this rating, the first place was occupied by OnePlus 3, and its successor, OnePlus 5, is not losing ground. The new product also received the highest-end hardware, which has no analogues on the market - 8 GB of RAM (6 GB in the younger version) and 64/128 GB of internal memory were added to the Snapdragon 835 processor.

OnePlus 5 is a lightning-fast smartphone that shows record results in synthetic tests. But, despite the top performance, cool screen and cool camera, it is not without its drawbacks. This includes the lack of dust and moisture protection, USB 2.0, secondary design and non-expandable memory. However, in terms of power, OnePlus 5 has no equal. Read the full review.

Nubia Z17

The specifications of the latest flagship from ZTE are identical to those of the leader in the rating - OnePlus 5. It has the same processor - Snapdragon 835, 6/8 GB of RAM and 64/128 GB of internal memory, which provides almost identical results in synthetics - Nubia is only behind 1+5 2 thousand parrots.

There are no special changes in the Z17 compared to its predecessor, the Z11. The same frameless design, emphasis on photography and good battery life. However, one can find fault with the new product due to mediocre optimization; the proprietary Nubia UI shell is extremely damp.

HTC U11

U11 is a lifeline for HTC, thrown in an attempt to maintain at least some position in the market. The popularity of Taiwanese products has recently declined significantly, and now no one considers them as a serious competitor even to second-tier Chinese brands.

Apple iPhone 7 Plus

After Apple premiered its two models in September 2016, they took first place in the ranking, but were supplanted by the new generation of devices powered by Snapdragon 835. iPhone 7 Plus scored 170,644 points. Powered by a 64-bit 4-core ARM microprocessor A10, manufactured using the 16-nanometer FinFET process by the Foundry company TSMC. Two processors are highly efficient for running heavy applications and games. And two are energy efficient for simpler programs such as instant messengers, surfing the Internet, etc. This is the same case when the number of cores is not an advantage.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium

XZ Premium became the first serial smartphone to receive the Snapdragon 835. And despite the fact that 4/64 GB of memory, modest by flagship standards, does not allow it to rise to the top of the ratings in terms of performance, it is a very cool smartphone with a revolutionary camera (primarily for due to the ability to record crazy slow-mo), gorgeous sound, premium housing with dust and moisture protection, and a bunch of other characteristics.

Apple iPhone 7

The next top model is the junior iPhone 7, which scored 160,589 points. The difference between the two models is not so significant and is absolutely imperceptible during everyday use. The processor here is still the same Fusion A10, with the same characteristics as the older model.

Samsung Galaxy S8

OnePlus 3T

The updated model of the almost perfect 1+3 was doomed to success, which was reflected not only in getting into various performance ratings, but also in high customer demand. The then top-end Snapdragon 821 chipset was installed in the device, the resolution of the front camera was increased to 16 MP and the battery capacity was increased by 400 units. Also, 1+3T began to be produced in a version with 128 GB of ROM and received a new body color.

The characteristics of 1+3T are as follows: 5.5’’ IPS FHD screen, Snapdragon 821, 6 GB RAM + 64/128 GB ROM, 16/16 MP cameras (with optical stabilization and laser autofocus), 3400 mAh battery. All this can be obtained for 25 thousand rubles when ordering from China. Note that One Plus 3T has already been updated to the latest version of Android 7.0 Nougat.

conclusions

Often when testing, in order to inflate the result, manufacturers come up with tricks by disabling some processes. Therefore, you should not completely rely on the rating results. However, this test only focuses on performance, and smartphones have many other features and unique characteristics. This rating will be updated monthly, stay tuned.
