Among modern smartphones, choosing a decent budget option is quite difficult. They are all similar to each other, almost like twins. However, ZTE, which quickly burst into the Russian market, knows how to surprise. And specifically budget smartphones. The main thing is to read reviews about them in advance. ZTE Blade L3 is a worthy representative of its class. And there are reasons for this.
About the manufacturing company
The Russian-Chinese company ZTE has been known on the Chinese market for quite a long time. But after domestic entrepreneurs entered the main directorate and management team, the company began to gain momentum in sales in the Russian Federation. And she even began to actively sponsor some projects. In particular, programs for Instead began to actively advertise the company, which attracted additional attention to it. which will be presented in the article, has not yet been “promoted” on television. But this does not in any way detract from the dignity of the smartphone.
Screen
This is the first thing that almost everyone starts with, it has a five-inch screen with an IPS matrix. At the same time, the quality of the display is really good, and the coating is oleophobic. That is, there are practically no fingerprints left on it, and on a sunny day the picture on the screen is visible very clearly, without darkening. This is a very important point, because most budget smartphones, unfortunately, are very economical in this regard. The matrices they use are cheap and not very high quality. The screen supports HD images with a resolution of 720p. For a five-inch display this is quite enough. In addition, the viewing angles are very wide, as a result of which the ZTE Blade L3 received positive reviews. No matter how you turn your smartphone, everything will be visible. And very good.
Appearance
The first thing everyone pays attention to when choosing a smartphone is its appearance. And here it is quite classic for ZTE products. The rear camera is located in the middle of the top of the smartphone, next to it is a flash, and on the other side is a stereo speaker. Buyers are pleasantly surprised by the fact that the phone has a matte finish. It is this that ensures that the device does not slip in your hands, and purchasing a case is not so necessary. The back cover fits very tightly to the smartphone, so there is no play or creaking during use. On the bottom touch panel in the middle there is a blue round control ring and two more buttons, the purpose of which can be changed independently. For example, to call up a menu or instantly launch the camera. On the bottom end panel there is a microphone and a micro-USB connector for connecting a charger or cable. The ZTE Blade L3 Gray smartphone received the most positive reviews in terms of appearance. Buyers like the classic and at the same time unusual design of the device, which still differs from the same type of budget, but already well-known companies.
Connection
It's nice to have two active SIM cards. In modern times, it’s rare for a person to make calls with only one. And everyone has their own reasons for purchasing a dual-SIM device. The SIM card format is supported in mini-size. There are no more problems with this. Mobile operators provide SIM cards of different sizes by default. They are inserted into the Blade L3 under the back cover, for which you have to remove the battery. This is done without much effort, but at the same time the battery holds tightly, without flying out on its own. The antenna of the smartphone is quite strong, it receives communication reliably even in problematic places where the coverage area is not very high quality. It is noteworthy that the first SIM card slot has a moisture sensor. The device notifies you that a wet SIM card has been inserted. The alert appears on the Quick Access Toolbar. Wi-Fi also works very well, it keeps the access point until the last moment, as long as the coverage area allows it.
operating system
Naturally, it is the popular and most commonly used Android. But its version is not the latest - 4.4.2. ZTE Blade L3 Gray, reviews of which are still more positive for its price category, can be upgraded to the fifth version of the operating system if desired. The smartphone will handle it quite well. To update, you just need to launch the special ZTE application, which is installed on the phone by default. The latest firmware version is also available on the official website. Visually, the operating system looks standard, there is nothing surprising about it. But to unlock the screen, you don’t need to swipe your finger across the display, as many are used to, but hold it for a few seconds in any area. This is not convenient for everyone, but in general you can get used to it.
Inner memory
It's not that much - 8 GB. For those for whom this volume is not enough to store all important files and information, there is a slot for a memory card (micro-SD). Supports up to 32 GB. However, as practice shows, there is enough standard space for standard applications and software. ZTE Blade L3 8 GB, reviews of which talk about fast performance, rarely requires a memory card. And excess cache and garbage that appears when using applications can be cleared. At the same time, there will be no freezes, which is very nice.
RAM
For a budget smartphone it is enough - 1024 MB. As a result, the device simply “flies”, and applications work smoothly, without freezes or glitches. Owners are especially pleased with the fact that demanding and technically complex games play without lag. Even if the settings are not at all minimal. The ZTE Blade L3 8GB smartphone, which has very positive reviews in terms of performance, is really good. It can be safely used for games, surfing the Internet and work. For example, office applications display large and voluminous texts in different formats without any problems.
Cameras
And this is where the “dog is buried.” Despite the fact that the stated quality of the main rear camera is 8 megapixels, the images are not the best. Autofocus works with some slowdown, so capturing moving objects is problematic. At the same time, the quality is “lame”. The color rendition is also not entirely correct. The primary colors are a little darker than they should be and the vibrancy is lost. Therefore, it is better to use a camera as an emergency option when you urgently need to photograph something. And then it is advisable to process the image. The front camera has a resolution of 2 megapixels. But even here the matrix is not the most outstanding, so it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to take a good selfie, even after processing the pictures. But for video communication with friends and family, this quality is quite enough.
Final review
For its cost, 6-8 thousand rubles, the smartphone is quite high quality. This is what the reviews confirm. ZTE Blade L3 is available in two colors - Gray and White. At the same time, at the start of sales, it was the first option that was in demand. The battery capacity (2000 mAh) is not very pleasing to users, but many have already managed to acquire a spare battery and even a mobile powerbank charger. Many people recommend buying a smartphone only because it fully returns the money spent on it, works like a charm, and does not let you down at the most important moments. Even if the device’s camera is not of the highest quality, if you use it for its intended purpose (calls, SMS, Internet and games), then the device simply won’t be worth the price. Those who are looking for a budget and reliable option should pay attention to the Blade L3 from ZTE.

Appearance and design
The design of the smartphone is unremarkable. The device is similar to other representatives of this price category. Its dimensions are 143.2x72.7x8.9 mm, weight - 134 g. Above the screen there is a camera for video calls, a speaker, sensors that react to proximity and lighting. There is also a small LED indicator that indicates the presence of notifications and a critically low battery level. Below the display there are three touch buttons: the central one is marked with a small circle, the other two are marked with dots.
The camera on the back of the phone is quite large and protrudes slightly above the overall space. There is also a flash and a multimedia speaker. The brand name is printed closer to the center. Under the cover of the smartphone there is a removable battery, 2 slots for SIM cards (the dimensions of which must comply with the Mini-SIM standard) and a slot for an SD card with a maximum capacity of up to 32 GB. The first SIM card can operate in 3G mode, the second - only in GSM.
On the top edge of the smartphone there is a standard audio jack, offset to the side. On the bottom side there is a microphone and Micro-USB input. The left side is devoid of elements, the right side has a volume carriage and a lock key.
The dimensions of the smartphone ensure comfortable use with one hand. The body is slightly rough to prevent accidental slipping. The assembly is satisfactory; no backlash or creaking was detected.
Display
The display of the ZTE Blade L3 smartphone is made using IPS technology, has a size of 5 inches and an HD resolution of 1280x720 px. The pixel density is 294 ppi, which provides good images without grain. The screen of the device is not protected by additional glass, so it can be easily scratched. Immediately after purchase, you should apply a protective film or glass. There is also no oleophobic coating.
Multi-touch display supports 5 touches simultaneously. The brightness of the smartphone is enough to work indoors, while outdoors on a sunny day the image becomes barely noticeable.
The minimum brightness level is too high - in complete darkness it blinds the eyes. Automatic backlight adjustment does not work accurately, making the screen too dim.
Software
The smartphone has pure Android 4.4.2 installed without a third-party shell. The system contains a small number of pre-installed programs: standard applications, Google services, social networks, Kingston Office. Android is not overloaded with third-party installations, so it works quickly, without freezing.
To unlock the device after pressing the physical button on the side, you need to place your finger on the screen and hold it for a while. If there are unread notifications or calls, a special icon will appear on the display.
At the top of the display there is a hidden panel that allows you to view incoming messages and make basic settings (including setting the default SIM card). Smartphone touch keys can be reassigned for left-handed users. A long press on the center button will launch the Google Now app.
Android 4.4.2 (KitKat)
The device has 8 GB of internal memory. It is divided into system (total 2.16 GB, 1.69 GB available) and user (3.75 GB available). In this case, the user memory can be expanded using an SD card, while the system memory remains unchanged. As a result, the user has a very limited amount of memory to accommodate additional applications, since they cannot be installed on the SD card.
Sound
The main speaker of the smartphone is located on the back side, next to the camera module. When holding the phone with one hand, the sound is not blocked. If you put it on a table, it’s the same thing, since the protruding lens prevents a tight fit. The volume of the device is enough to not miss a call in a noisy environment. At maximum values, a slight crackling begins in the speakers. High and mid frequencies are present, bass is absent.
The speaker is loud and clear. There are no problems when talking with the interlocutor. The sound quality in the headphones is normal. Using an equalizer will add missing frequencies.
Performance
Media Tek MT6582M
The ZTE Blade L3 is powered by a quad-core 32-bit Media Tek MT6582M processor clocked at 1.3 GHz. The Mali-400 MP2 accelerator is responsible for displaying graphic elements.
The amount of RAM is 1 GB, about 280 MB free.
Synthetic tests of the device showed the following results:
- AnTuTu – 17426 points;
- 3D Mark – 2072 points.
The smartphone copes well with launching simple applications, communicating on social networks, watching videos and searching the Internet. When simultaneously downloading a large file and using applications, the phone begins to noticeably freeze. The same picture is observed when updating applications in the background.
Real-life testing in games went better than expected. Call of Mini Zombies 2 runs on high settings, NFS No Limits and Asphalt 8 on standard settings, which are set by default when first launched. Real Racing 3 exhibits slight stuttering, but it doesn't impact gameplay too much.
