The App Store won't load: how to solve the problem. Double tap or why Face ID doesn't work with Apple Pay and App Store Why the app store doesn't open

It seems that today is a very difficult day for some employees of the apple company. A few hours ago, users began to note global problems in the operation of a variety of Apple services. Unstable operation is currently noted iTunes Store, App Store And Mac App Store, as well as complete inoperability iTunes Connect.

In contact with

The range of problems is very diverse. For the most part, users cannot log into services under their . Developers face the same problem when trying to log into their account in iTunes Connect. App stores are working intermittently. The Mac App Store may give errors when installing and searching for individual applications, and in App Store At the moment, downloading applications does not work.

Judging by reports and user requests, problems with Apple services are observed in the following countries: Australia, Brazil, Poland, Serbia, Cyprus, Canada, Switzerland, Spain, Bolivia, India, Italy, Egypt, Denmark, Japan, the USA and the UK. Users from CIS countries, including Ukraine, Belarus and Russia, also encountered the problems mentioned above.

It is also not always possible to report a problem to Apple itself. In our case, when we tried to submit a support request, we received an error asking us to try again later. Apple has not yet responded to the problem, but we should expect a solution in the near future.

The information posted on the System Status page confirms the problem for all users:

Recently, many users may have noticed problems with the App Store and some other Apple services. Until now, it was unclear what they could be connected with, but yesterday the situation was clarified by the company itself (which is rare, because Apple usually rarely comments on anything). As reported by the Reuters news agency, the first mass attack was carried out on the application store.

It all started in China

The Chinese have a rather complicated relationship with large technology corporations (especially American ones), so they often use third-party solutions. In this case, the problem turned out to be: the speed of downloading the program from Apple servers for Chinese developers leaves much to be desired, so they decided to download it from other sources.

What follows is even more interesting. Developers downloaded Xcode from file hosting services, but it was infected with a virus, with the help of which applications could collect data about users. In other words, any program created using the “unofficial” Xcode sent hackers all the necessary information about the owner of the iPhone or iPad.

The capabilities of the virus are not limited to this - in fact, it can scan the clipboard, independently open links on the device, and so on.

Apple makes a mistake

How did moderators miss malicious applications? Apparently, they simply did not notice the hidden code in the programs, as a result of which... yes, all the applications ended up in the App Store.

However, Apple quickly identified the problems and removed all apps from its store that were created using fake Xcode. True, the number of victims of the virus remains unknown.

But is this the reason?

Experts believe that the App Store infection is responsible for the failures in the application store that were observed during the second half of last week. But the main stream of complaints came not from the USA or Europe, but from Russia, where users could not simply update the application or .

For some reason, the topic of transferring the data of Russian Apple users to data centers located in the Russian Federation very quickly died down. But this process is not as simple as it seems at first glance, and it is almost impossible to carry it out without disruptions to the system (needless to say, Apple is closing its store just to add new devices).

Since Apple is obligated in the near future, the company’s specialists may well already be working on transferring information to Russia. And this may be the true reason for the failures in the App Store in our country. Apple, unfortunately, does not talk about this matter. Although it would be necessary.

As you know, Touch ID technology in both “old” and new iPhones significantly simplifies the process of downloading new toys and applications from the App Store. Actually, the user only needs to select a program, and then simply put his finger on the Home button of his Apple smartphone - that, in fact, is the whole process.

But the iPhone X does not have a Home button, and you can no longer press your finger to it. Yes he has Face ID and beautiful instructions, which, according to the developers, should help the user survive this “loss.” But as practice shows, it does not help everyone and/or not immediately.

But, it would seem, you turned your head a couple of times, set up Face ID, and then you can download the application and use Apple Pay even from a locked screen and without going far into the system, you just need to look at your smartphone.

But NO! This is where everything is not very simple.

The fact is that for insurance, that is, so that the user does not download and/or buy something unnecessary, the creators They came up with a “double-click” mechanism. In the original it sounds like Double Click to Install And Double Click to Pay, i.e. not even a click, but a “double click”. And despite the fact that this mechanism also has its own seemingly extremely clear instructions, not all users understand the first time what kind of “click” this is and what to do with it.

So let's explain. So:

What is "double tap" on iPhone X

This means that if, at the stage of confirming a download or purchase using Face ID, the “double tap” does not work, then it is very likely that you are clicking in the wrong place. Many users, seeing an invitation to double-tap on the iPhone X screen, immediately begin to tap their finger across the entire screen (and some even swipe on the inscription itself).

And in this particular case, what is required is not a touch on the screen, not a swipe, but a real press, and a double one at that. Like double clicking a computer mouse. And you need to press not on the screen, but to the side button , which the text hint actually points to.

So you need to click on it twice. And then look at your iPhone X, and only after that Face ID will allow you to download an application or pay for a purchase. This is the trick.

Well, as a bonus, about...

what to do if the “double tap” on the iPhone X really doesn’t work (yes, this happens):
  • This may be a glitch of a separate application, then and then open again;
  • this may be an iOS glitch, then you need reboot iPhone X(maybe even force a reboot);
  • the system does not work if the smartphone is not connected to the Internet, so you need to check whether airplane mode is turned on, or the status of connection to your mobile operator’s network or the nearest WiFi network;
  • If the App Store application does not open at all, then you need to go to the “ Restrictions" and check if you have the option " Installing programs » ( );
  • if the iPhone X says that in-app purchases are prohibited, then tap too “Settings” → “General” → “Restrictions” and see if the option “ In-App Purchases «;
  • if Apple Pay doesn't work at all, tap and check whether this function is enabled for the service Apple Pay ;
  • if you don’t see any inscription on the screen indicating where to double-click, then tap “Settings” → “Face ID and passcode” and check if this function is enabled for "iTunes Store and App Store" ;
  • if you suspect that Face ID is not working entirely correctly, then in this post you will find details about “

Unfortunately, problems with store operations are not uncommon. In particular, many owners of Apple smartphones and tablets complain that the App Store does not open.

What ways to solve this problem are there? Here are some valuable recommendations.

Causes and some solutions to the problem

  • It is quite possible that there are problems in the operation of the Apple store itself - for example, if the user sees an error when launching the corresponding application, but this does not always happen.
  • Unfortunately, official confirmation that the situation is temporary cannot always be found on the company’s website. However, it is worth trying to re-enter the store later.
  • Often the problem may be related to the device. First, you should try the simplest thing: log out of your account, restart your smartphone or tablet for a while and log in to your account again.
  • To do this, open the device settings, go to the menu responsible for the iTunes Store and App Store, click on “Apple ID”, and then click “Exit”.
  • After the reboot, enter the password and try to log in again.
  • Often these simplest manipulations are enough to get the store up and running again.
  • If they don't help, you should try resetting your network settings.
  • An even more radical way is to reset the settings of the device itself - however, it is worth taking care of the backup in order to later restore all the important information contained on the gadget.
  • It also happens that updating the firmware helps.
  • The owner of the device can always turn to specialists for help - for example, technical support or the nearest service center.

Other ways to solve the problem

If the problem occurs after the user has updated the system, he should try the following steps.
  • Go to settings and go to the menu responsible for the App Store and iTunes Store.
  • We check whether it is checked and, if necessary, check it.
  • Some iOS device users complain that they cannot download updates from the Apple store.
  • In such a situation, you should go to the “Updates” menu and wait a while.
  • It is quite possible that the problem will disappear on its own within a few minutes - simply because the system is “slowing down”.
If you have problems logging into the store on iOS 8:
  • You should go to the device settings, then go to the “Touch ID and password” menu and enter the password.
  • Then they try to uncheck the App Store and iTunes Store menus and exit it.
  • The next steps are to reboot the device and re-enter the menu.
They check the box again and try to enter the store.
