When can we expect a new major update for GTA Online? We believe that the announcement could take place as early as this week. Of course, these are just our assumptions, but the experience of previous updates has shown that there really is a pattern in the release of updates and they are not announced in a chaotic manner. This means that we can at least roughly predict the release date of the new DLC for GTA Online.
Or maybe there is no update at all?
There is definitely an update. This is evidenced by the beta branch "qabeta2" on the Steamdb.info website, which is always updated several weeks before the announcement of the update. The first change to the branch was on February 23, then we were absolutely sure that the update would see the light in early March. But then a second unexpected branch change occurred on March 2nd. Does this mean that the developers have decided to postpone the update to a later date in order to refine and polish it? We don't know for sure. This outcome is possible, because Rockstar has seven Fridays a week. However, if this is indeed the case, the gap between the last car being unlocked and the announcement of the new update will be at an all-time high.

Rockstar always adds a lot of initially unavailable for purchase cars and various confrontations to the new Rockstar update. Then, for many months, once a week, they open access to blocked content and delight players with various discounts. The last unlocked car from the Doomsday Heist update was the Pfister Comet SR, on February 27th. Tomorrow should be another “week in GTA Online”, in which Rocksar will announce discounts and new cars with confrontations. But there are no more cars or confrontations left .

"The Arms Trade" was released on Wednesday. "Smugglers" and "The Doomsday Heist" are on Thursday. Thursday is the most likely day for the announcement of a new update. But then again, Rockstar has seven Fridays in a week and the update could come out completely unexpectedly on any other day.

For example, one of the GTAForums users predicted the announcement on March 6th, and the trailer on the 13th. What will the new update be like?
Again, no one has this information. Definitely, the update will be major. After such a sensational update as the Doomsday Heist, Rockstar will definitely not lower the temperature. Beach Bun Update
It all started on November 19, 2013. GTA 5 was released on September 17, and Multiplayer GTA Online was launched on October 1, and the first Beach Bum update appeared a month and a half later.At the time, this update generated a lot of excitement, although it was minor compared to the updates that are coming out now. The Valentine's Day Massacre Special
On February 4, 2014, another thematic update for Valentine's Day was released. This update was also small, but illuminating in its theme of the old years.

It was also in this DLC that the first motorcycle was added, and of course, work is in full swing to improve the gameplay of GTA Online so that Multiplayer is ready for NextGen on PS4 and Xbox One, although at that time no one among the players knew about it.
"I'm Not a Hipster" Uptade
The next summer update is "I'm not a hipster", which added a lot of new clothes, masks, hairstyles and paint jobs in the workshop. And of course, a new large portion of cars, compared to the previous DLC, where 3-4 pieces were added, in the “I'm not a hipster” update, as many as 16 pieces appeared.

The San Andreas Flight School Uptade

It was a breakthrough and it also gave a big impetus to the popularity of GTA Online. The Heist update was the largest in GTA Online, and now it can only be compared with one of the latest updates, Judgment Day, which players had to wait for several years. The robberies themselves, in addition to the story-based joint missions, added a huge amount of cool vehicles, the opportunity to buy which opened only after completing the heist with this vehicle; this idea is also used in the current updates. The robberies were cool. And it was with this update that a new story for GTA Online began, which continues to this day.
Then there were minor and rather monotonous updates - two parts “Dirty Money”, “Lowriders” and on June 7, 2016, the update “The Adventure of Bandits and Scammers” launched a new concept in GTA Online.

Rockstar Games decided to delay the release of story additions for GTA 5, but for GTA Online updates and additions are released regularly.
