What is Bitcoin core. Bitcoin Core - what it is and how it works: creating and using a wallet

We learned how to use Bitcoin Core. And you?

In previous articles, I looked at what kind of Bitcoin wallets there are, what they offer in terms of functionality, as well as their strengths and weaknesses. For those who have chosen reliability, security, stability and opted for the Bitcoin Core wallet, in this article I will tell you how to use it.

How to create Bitcoin Core, installation and synchronization

Naturally, first we need the Bitcoin Core client itself. We go to the official one and download the required distribution (we will consider the version for Windows):

Bitcoin Core - download the program for Windows

Next we need to install the client on the computer. The installation procedure for Bitcoin Core is extremely simple: just click “Next” and that’s it, there are no pitfalls there. You can install Bitcoin Core anywhere, even on drive C (this is the client itself, not the blockchain base), all this stuff weighs just over 40 MB.

Installed? Let's launch!

On first launch we see the following:

Installing Bitcoin Core

IMPORTANT!!! For the client to fully operate, the entire blockchain database is needed, which will now need to be downloaded (synchronized with the network). And in this window we need to choose where we will store it. Either in the default directory (which is the C drive, and it would be unwise to place the database there), or choose a different directory, which is what I did. As you can see, the entire database currently occupies 122 GB, so choose a disk that has plenty of space, taking into account the fact that in the future the database will get fatter.

If you suddenly use an antivirus, then disable it before downloading, or add the entire folder with the future database to exceptions, in order to avoid any conflicts.

Click OK, the wallet is initialized and Bitcoin Core synchronization immediately begins:

Bitcoin Core Synchronization

Until synchronization with the network is carried out, any work in the Bitcoin Core wallet will be impossible, so be patient, as I had to be...

After exactly one day (24 hours), I sadly observed the following picture:

Bitcoin Core Synchronization Duration

Only 56% was downloaded, although my speed allows me to download the entire amount of data (122 GB) per day. And there are still 2 days left to wait (two days, Karl!).

I began to observe the line “Progress per hour” - the speed jumped very much in the range from 0.01% to 3%. It turns out that synchronization does not maintain the maximum possible download speed (as in torrents), which can affect the overall waiting time. Therefore, you shouldn’t count on a quick start, even if you have high-speed Internet. In addition, Bitcoin Core synchronization takes up all the computer’s resources, making it practically useless at this time.

These are the main disadvantages of this wallet. It’s good that you can close it to do other things, and then start it again - your progress will be saved. Well, I'll continue to wait...

How to set up Bitcoin Core

Three days later, Bitcoin Core synchronization is completed and the client is completely ready for use. By the way, your wallet has already been created, i.e. The first launch of the client before synchronization is actually the creation of a Bitcoin Core wallet; no additional actions are required.

Before us is the client interface, which is divided into 4 zones:

  • Menu – located at the very top, it is responsible for quick access to all basic actions and settings;
  • Tabs - main functionality: Review, Send, Receive, Transactions;
  • Work area - here is the basic information or fields to fill out;
  • Status panel - displays the synchronization status, and here you can also change the balance units.

The first thing we start with is setting up Bitcoin Core. To do this, go to the “Settings → Options” menu. There are not very many settings and it won’t be difficult to figure it out, since there is a tooltip for each option, I will only focus on non-obvious things.

Wallet → Enable Login Management

In your wallet, you are free to create as many addresses as you like for receiving or sending payments. So, by activating this option, you will be able to choose the address from which transactions will go and which bitcoins you received earlier will be used for this. You can also combine multiple transactions: simply choose which addresses and which coins in those addresses you want to send. That. You are actually transferring coins between your own wallets before sending them on to anyone else. Although such a transfer comes with a commission, by combining several small transactions into one large one, it will allow you to set a lower commission in the future, thereby saving you a lot. But remember: this option is only for advanced users who understand how to work with it and what it is for (it’s not for nothing that it’s in the “Expert” section).

Display → Third Party Transaction URLs

Here you can put links to various block explorers that you are used to using (the same one), followed by convenient viewing of data on any of your transactions using the context menu on the “Transactions” tab. The algorithm of operation of the mechanism itself is presented in the tooltip.

Bitcoin Core Security and Backup

So, there is a Bitcoin Core wallet, it is synchronized and already configured for us. What's next? And then the most important thing! If we want to keep bitcoins safe and sound, we must take care of security.

Encryption

The first thing you need to do for this is to encrypt the wallet itself (Settings → Encrypt wallet...):

Bitcoin Core encryption

Encryption is done to ensure that no one except you has access to the wallet. Even if you are the only computer user, it won't hurt. This encryption, of course, is not a panacea; all kinds of keyloggers on your machine (if you are hacked) will easily steal your password, but this will still add a couple of points to your protection.

You cannot remove encryption, you can only change the password - remember this. But the most important thing: you must not forget or lose your password, otherwise your bitcoins will be irretrievably lost. Recovering a forgotten password is almost impossible. Keep it in your head (the best option), otherwise in a safe on a piece of paper or in a password manager.

Bitcoin Core Backup

The second step should be to create a backup copy of the wallet (the wallet is the wallet.dat file in the database folder), or better yet, several copies. They should be stored in different places - on flash drives and portable hard drives (this will be a kind of cold storage).

There is no point in doing this immediately after installing and synchronizing Bitcoin Core. But as soon as you start actively working with your wallet (sending and receiving payments, creating addresses, etc.), it should become a habit. To do this, select the menu “File → Make a backup copy of your wallet...” and indicate the path where this copy will be located.

Bitcoin Core backups can protect you from system failures of the computer itself, from failed hard drives, from crooked hands, and will allow you to painlessly restore your wallet. To do this, you just need to copy the backup wallet to the folder with the database. Such copies must be made regularly so that all recent changes in them are already taken into account.

Alternatively, you can also make a copy of the database itself from time to time, if, of course, you have somewhere to store more than 122 GB. This can be useful if you want to move to a spare computer while the main one may be busy or broken. Well, or after reinstalling the operating system, if all the disks were formatted. It is much easier to copy 122 GB and then synchronize new blocks than to do a new synchronization for several days.

How to use Bitcoin Core

Now let's go through the capabilities of our client.

Overview tab

Bitcoin Core Program, Overview Tab

Everything is clear and understandable here - you will be shown the available wallet balance. You will also see the amount awaiting confirmation, the total account and the latest transactions, both incoming and outgoing.

Send tab

Bitcoin Core Program, Send Tab

There shouldn't be any questions here either. Using Bitcoin Core for transfers is extremely simple:

  • enter the recipient's address;
  • enter a label (if necessary) that will be associated with this address and added to the address book;
  • indicate the transfer amount;
  • choose a commission: either recommended (depending on current network conditions), or selective (we manually indicate the amount), or mandatory (if we like to tease Lady Luck);
  • Click “Send” (if the wallet is encrypted, then enter the password) and confirm sending the coins.

If you need to make several payments, then use the “Add recipient” button. In this case, the commission is charged only for one transaction.

If in the settings you have checked the “Enable input management” checkbox, then on the “Send” tab at the very top an additional field will appear where you can select addresses (the “Inputs..." button) from which payments will be sent:

Bitcoin Core program, selecting addresses for sending

Receive tab

It is used, no matter how strange it may sound, to obtain bitcoins. Here addresses will be generated to which payments can be sent to you. The newly installed Bitcoin Core wallet already has an address and you can use it. You can also give each sender your own individual address (after tagging them so that you know who made the transfer to you), but it is better to create a new one each time (for security and confidentiality reasons). All your addresses are stored in the address book in the menu “File → Receiving addresses...”

Bitcoin Core Program, Receive Tab

The operating principle here is as follows:

  • enter the label (needed only to identify the sender);
  • click “Request payment”;
  • in the window that appears, we see a QR code (needed for mobile gadgets) and the new address itself, ready to be used and transferred to another person.

Transactions Tab

Bitcoin Core Program, Transactions Tab

This tab shows all transactions (sending and receiving) carried out in the wallet. Here you can use both sorting by date and type of transaction, and searching by address and amount - to do this, simply copy and paste the desired address or amount into the search bar.

We looked at how to use Bitcoin Core, basic wallet settings that are suitable for 90% of users. Advanced users will have fifty more additional options when working through the command line, but they will understand this very well themselves; all commands are listed in the “Help → Command Line Options” menu.

FAQ

Let's look at the questions/answers that most often arise for beginners and are discussed on thematic resources:

1. When choosing the database storage location, I left the “Use default data directory” option. Where exactly to look for it?

General path - %appdata%\bitcoin

For Windows 7 - C:\Users\Account\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin

2. I moved the Bitcoin Core database to another disk. How to change the path to the database in the program?

To do this, you need to enter the following key -datadir=path_to_folder in the line with the path to the object in the launch shortcut of the wallet itself:

Bitcoin Core - path to database

3. How to speed up Bitcoin Core synchronization?

The initial synchronization of Bitcoin Core takes a very long time. I heard that you can download an archive with blocks via torrent and unpack it into a folder with the database, after which everything will work. Is it so?

Yes that's right. This method of accelerating synchronization has its place. But, firstly, you do this at your own peril and risk - if something goes wrong, you will have to reinstall the wallet from scratch.

Secondly, the archives with blocks that are on the network are not entirely complete; they contain from 100,000 to 300,000 of the first blocks. The remaining 160,000 will still have to be downloaded with the help of the client: the time gain will not be so significant, but there will be a lot of fuss.

Thirdly, such archives are collected by folk craftsmen, who knows what else they will shove in there.

Fourthly, this procedure is relevant ONLY for new and empty wallets, so if you are thinking of just updating this way, forget it.

4. How to ensure maximum protection for your wallet?

Your main “treasure” is the wallet.dat file, it is located in the database folder. It is this that must be protected like the apple of one’s eye. Here's the advice you see most often:

  • Encrypt your Bitcoin Core wallet;
  • then make several backups;
  • after that, on the “Receive” tab, generate a dozen addresses and save them in a safe place;
  • delete the wallet.dat file (let only backups in trusted places remain).

If your computer has access to the network, then the wallet.dat file can be stolen, and the keys to it can be found using keyloggers. If it doesn’t exist, then there’s nothing to steal. And to receive bitcoins to a cold wallet, use the addresses that were generated earlier.

), providing secure ways to store, exchange and transfer cryptocurrency coins. It falls into the category of heavy (thick) wallets, taking up productive power and about 50 gigabytes of PC memory (as the base grows, the figures will increase). You can download it on the website bitcoin.org (section “Introduction” - “Individuals” - “Getting Started” - “Select Wallet” tab). Compatible with Windows, Mac OS and Linux.

To install a wallet, just click the download button and go through all the suggested steps one by one.

Bitcoin Core in clear form:

After the program is downloaded, synchronization with the network will begin. This process can last up to 5 days (depending on the productivity of the computer and Internet speed). If you don’t have time to complete this procedure (you’re busy, you’re leaving, etc.), close the window and when you connect to your wallet again, synchronization will continue from the moment it was interrupted.

For security reasons, do not install the wallet on the “C” drive, as any problems with the computer will lead to the loss of your finances. Select a separate disk for this purpose and be sure to store a backup copy on a flash drive or external drive (pay special attention to the integrity of the wallet.dat file).

By going to the “Settings” tab, you can encrypt your wallet. This option is necessary in order to protect the private key from fraudsters (until the specified password is entered, all transactions will be closed).

To make a money transfer, go to the "Send" tab, enter the recipient's address and enter the amount of BTC (bitcoin coins). If you plan to reuse the specified address later, enter a label and it will be saved in your address book.

To receive BTC, open the “Receive” section and click on the “Request payment” tab (specify the amount, tag and other sections of the wallet).

Before executing a transaction, you can control the amount of commissions. By default, the “Recommended” amount is set, which is calculated automatically and is suitable for urgent withdrawals.

If the transfer is not urgent, then you can use the “Selective” amount or make a free transaction (this option is not always possible).

Results:

  • Bitcoin Core is a secure wallet with an intuitive interface.
  • To download it, just go to the official website, read all the available information, and proceed to installation.
  • The only inconvenience is its impressive volume (installation can take up to 5 days); if you don’t want to wait that long or don’t want to allocate so much space, use other types.
  • For security reasons, do not download it to the C drive and store a copy on an external drive.

Bitcoin Core is often criticized for its complex setup and limited capabilities.

However, you should consider all its advantages and disadvantages in more detail in order to create your own opinion about the service.

It allows you to store only one cryptocurrency – BTC.

To use the Bitcoin Core client, you first need to download the blockchain. However, before downloading the software, it is important to ensure that your computer meets the necessary criteria to run it.

Although "minimum" settings can be used, recommended requirements include:

  • At least 145 GB of hard drive space
  • In addition, a reserve of free space for data downloads is required: 500 MB/day or 15 GB/month, in addition to the priority download when the client is first launched.
  • 1 GB RAM
  • Availability of a suitable operating system from the list above.

Once the client is downloaded, it downloads the entire blockchain, which contains the history of all past transactions and is over 100 GB in size. Depending on your Internet connection and computer speed, this may take from a couple of hours to several days.

Creating a Password

You can use the bitcoin core GUI or the command line to navigate to the menu "Settings" and choose "Encrypt Wallet".

Now, you have to encrypt your wallet by creating a password for it.

If you lose this created code, access to your wallet will be lost forever.

Once you save your password, Bitcoin Core will automatically turn off. Restart after finishing work.

After confirming the password, the client will be automatically turned off.

How to top up Bitcoin Core

Now that you have created a password, you can add funds to your account.

After the reboot, the valet will be available for use. Next you need:

  • Go to the tab "File" and choose "Receiving Addresses".
  • Next, copy the address to which you want to receive bitcoin.

If you bought a currency on an exchange, you can send the funds stored in the exchange wallet to your new one. To do this, you need to insert the recipient's address into the sending form on the exchange.

If a person sends currency to you, they will also need to use your address.

Once you've completed the download process and added funds to your wallet, payments should be fairly straightforward.

To get started, you just need to launch the client, go to the menu "Send" and enter transaction information.

Enter the recipient's wallet address in the field "Pay to" Be sure to double check your information as transactions cannot be reversed.

Please remember that you are responsible for setting up the fees for . This fee is provided to miners who support . Higher fees usually equate to faster transaction approvals. If the fee you entered is too low, it is possible that the network will reject your trade, in which case the funds will appear in your account again.

Once you are satisfied that all entered information is correct, click the button "Send".

You may be required to enter a password. After that click "OK" to send a transfer.

How safe is it to use the Bitcoin Core wallet?

The service is known for offering a very high level of privacy and security.

Users can also choose additional security measures to ensure greater security of funds.

Excellent privacy for accepting transactions. Because the platform downloads the entire history of all transactions on the network, the software can search through the data to find out which one contains a payment. By running Bitcoin Core, you are guaranteed to have complete privacy regarding your incoming transactions.

Strong level of confidentiality of sent transactions.

When you send Bitcoin, you have to record the data on a public blockchain.

The program transmits information through a large peer-to-peer network, making tracking much more difficult.

Tor compatible. The service is compatible with this anonymous service, which can be used to hide your IP address.

It will make it more difficult for third parties to associate your real name with your Bitcoin transactions.

Decentralized peer-to-peer network. When you use a service, you are connected to a large network of other users using it. A decentralized process does not require verification by a centralized entity to know who is connected to the network.

Where can I download the program?

To ensure your safety, do not download this software from unofficial sources.

In this article we will review and analyze the Bitcoin Core wallet in detail. You will learn everything about the work of the Bitcoin Core wallet: how to download, how to install, how to create, how to use, what synchronization with the network is, how to send and receive Bitcoins, how to restore the wallet in case of failure and much more. Bitcoin Core is by far one of the most reliable wallets for storing Bitcoins; only the owner of the wallet is responsible for the safety of funds. Stealing Bitcoins from Bitcoin Core Wallet is very difficult, almost impossible. Reliability is a definite plus. But the wallet also has a number of disadvantages, the main one of which is the need to store large amounts of data (more than 150 GB) on its hard drive. Let's figure out together whether it is worth using the Bitcoin Core wallet to work with Bitcoin or choose another method. Download Bitcoin Core wallet official website: bitcoin.org. Installing Bitcoin Core. Now let's look at how to install the Bitcoin Core wallet. The first thing you need to do is download Bitcoin Core from the official website, to do this follow the link: bitcoin.org. Then select the operating system (Windows, Linux, Mac OS or Ubuntu), its bitness (64 bit or 32 bit) and download the wallet installation file to your computer. After that, install the Bitcoin Core program on your computer.

But do not think that the program will immediately start working after installation. No. To start working fully with the wallet, the program must be synchronized with the Blockchain network. What is synchronization, you ask. Synchronization is the process of downloading the entire Blockchain database to your computer. That is, to get full access to the functionality of the wallet, you need to download the entire Blockchain database.
Synchronization with the network is a rather long process. At the time of writing, the Blockchain database weighs approximately 150 Gigabytes. Plus, this figure will constantly increase, since transactions are constantly being made on the Blockchain network and, accordingly, the size of the base is growing. The hard drive on which you plan to install the Bitcoin Core wallet must have at least 200 GigaBytes of free space for the ever-growing Blockchain database. If you have a powerful computer, synchronization with the network will take approximately two days. If the computer is weak - more than two days. The process itself can be paused, while all synchronization data is saved. Important! Do not install Bitcoin Core wallet on system drive “C”! In this case, if you reinstall the operating system, access to the wallet will be lost. Install Bitcoin Core on a non-system drive, for example, drive “D”. That is, before installing the program, create a folder on drive “D” with a name, for example, “Bitcoin” and install the program in this folder. After installing the program, we will be asked to indicate the installation path of the wallet itself (not to be confused with the program) and undergo synchronization. That is, on drive “D” we create another folder for installing the wallet, for example “Bitcoin_DB”, and click “OK”. Wait until synchronization is completed, after which you can start working with your wallet.

Bitcoin Core wallet how to use

How to change the program interface language on Bitcoin Core. If after installing the wallet the program interface works in English, go to the menu item “Settings” ⇒ “Options” ⇒ “Display” ⇒ “User Interface language” and assign the interface language to Russian. For the changes to take effect, restart the program. If you have an interface in Russian and you want to change it to another, then go to “Settings” ⇒ “Options” ⇒ “Display” ⇒ “Interface language” and select the language you need.

Bitcoin Core security

Immediately after launching the program, in order to maximally protect your Bitcoin Core wallet from hacking, enable encryption. To do this, go to the menu item “Settings” ⇒ “Encrypt wallet” and assign a password for operations. This password is assigned once and cannot be changed. Once encryption is enabled, every Bitcoin sent will be confirmed with this password. That is, even if an attacker gains access to your wallet but does not know this password, your Bitcoins will be safe. I repeat once again: this is a password for operations; you do not need to enter it when entering your wallet.
How to set up a Bitcoin Core wallet. Be sure to enable the input control feature. This feature will allow you to create an unlimited number of receiving addresses, as well as send Bitcoins in one transaction, again to an unlimited number of addresses. Go to the “Settings” ⇒ “Options” ⇒ “Wallet” tab, check the box next to “Enable input management” and click “OK”.

Beginners cannot always immediately figure out how to find out the Bitcoin Core wallet number. To find out your Bitcoin address, go to the menu item “File” ⇒ “Receiving Addresses”. When registering on Bitcoin Core, a Bitcoin address is automatically created to replenish your wallet, which can be immediately used to receive payments. To fund your Bitcoin Core wallet, you simply need to send Bitcoins to your receiving address. After six network confirmations, the funds will be credited to the wallet. The history of all incoming and outgoing payments can be viewed in the “Transactions” tab. Also in “Receiving Addresses”, if necessary, you can generate a large number of Bitcoin addresses for receiving funds. For convenience, each address can be marked with tags. To increase security, I recommend using different wallets for working with Bitcoins. For example, use one Bitcoin address to participate in projects, and another address to store Bitcoin. To create a Bitcoin address on Bitcoin Core Wallet, in the “File” ⇒ “Receiving Addresses” menu item, click on the “+ New” button. The program will automatically create a new Bitcoin address.

To withdraw funds from Bitcoin Core Wallet, go to the “Send” tab, enter the recipient’s address, label (if necessary), sending amount, assign a commission (recommended - automatic commission; optional - assign a commission manually; I recommend assigning manually from 0.0001 to 0.0005 BTC depending on network congestion) and click the “Submit” button:
Bitcoin Core has the function of sending Bitcoins to different addresses (unlimited quantities) within one payment, and you will pay the commission as for one transaction! Agree, this is very profitable. To send Bitcoins to several addresses at once and save on commissions, in the send tab, click “Add recipient”, then enter the sending amount and the recipient’s address. Add as many recipients as you need and then click on the “Submit” button.

Bitcoin Core recovery

Now let's figure out how to restore a Bitcoin Core wallet. To create a backup copy, go to the “File” ⇒ “Back up wallet” menu item, enter the file name “wallet” and save the file with the “dat” extension. Save the “wallet.dat” file on several media (other computers, flash drives, etc.). To restore a saved copy of your wallet, install the wallet again and replace the “wallet.dat” file in the program folder with yours.

Important! I recommend making a backup copy of your Bitcoin Core wallet after every transaction (incoming or outgoing, it doesn’t matter)! In this case, if the operating system malfunctions or the hard drive fails, you can always restore the current version of the wallet and avoid losing money. Ideally, after each session of working with your wallet, save a backup copy on several storage media.

Bitcoin Core reviews

Pros and cons of Bitcoin Core wallet. Reliability is the main positive aspect of the wallet. Only you manage the money yourself, which greatly reduces the risk of your wallet being hacked by attackers. The disadvantages are long synchronization with the network and mandatory storage of a heavy Blockchain database. If you need a secure way to store your Bitcoins, Bitcoin Core is a good option. If the ease of use of the wallet is more important to you, you should choose a different wallet. You can buy Bitcoin profitably on one of the most reliable crypto exchanges Binance:

How to use the Bitcoin Core wallet

  • How to mine with Bitcoin Core?

Bitcoin Core is a reliable and multifunctional wallet for storing and making transactions with the Bitcoin cryptocurrency. Its development and promotion is carried out by the non-profit organization Bitcoin Foundation. Beginners in this field who want to start mining or trading Bitcoin on special sites cannot do without a wallet, so knowledge about the capabilities of this software is simply necessary.

How to create a Bitcoin Core wallet?

This crypto wallet type is installed on the PC hard drive and is free software. Bitcoin Core is the official wallet of the world's leading cryptocurrency, which allows you to store the entire transaction history on the user's local computer, and not on the servers of various services. Previously it was also known as Bitcoin-Qt.

It is time-tested, as it originates from the very origins of the development of this cryptocurrency and is the first such application. Its security is affected by the protection of the OS, hosts and network devices, including the local network.

Instructions for creating and using Bitcoin Core

To install and configure the software you will need the following:

  • lots of GB of free space on your hard drive (for starters);
  • broadband Internet access;
  • several USB drives (for creating backups);
  • patience (for long synchronization times).

Before starting the installation, you need to make sure that the computer is “disinfected” and there are no “worms” or other malware on it. You can check it and the backup flash drives using a good antivirus program.

Next you need to follow the link https://bitcoin.org/en/bitcoin-core/ and download your wallet. It is available for various operating systems, including Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, ARM Linux and Ubuntu. If you already have an older Bitcoin-Qt or Bitcoin Core client installed, the program will simply update the necessary files. Don't forget to back up your wallet.dat file before upgrading.

The duration of synchronization after installing the application depends on how powerful your computer is and the quality of the Internet. New computers cope with this task much faster, but in any case you will have to be patient.

Having completed this lengthy task, you can begin to understand how to use the wallet. The next step is choosing a password. To do this, you need to go to “Settings” and then to “Encrypt wallet”. Don't lose your password. It is better to write it down on paper and store it in a safe place, since if it is lost it will be impossible to restore it. In this case, access to your funds in your wallet will be irretrievably lost.

After setting the password, the program will turn off. You should always let the wallet complete its processes without interrupting the closing process, including using the Task Manager. This can lead to the destruction of your wallet and the loaded blockchain. Launch it again after closing. Now no one except you can access the cryptocurrency stored in your wallet.

How to use Bitcoin Core wallet?

  1. Make a backup of your wallet before using it. Go to "File" then "Backup Wallet". The program will ask you for the path to save the backup – wallet.dat. This is where your personal information, automatically generated unique Bitcoin address and secret key are stored. For each transfer you need to generate a new address.

They are all automatically associated with a key and are unique, so never store your private key digitally or enter it on any device. With its help, you can restore access to coins sent to the address associated with it. The safety of your funds depends on your caution.

It is not recommended to store it and a backup copy of the application on the same computer as the main wallet. If the hard drive is damaged for some reason, you may permanently lose access to your wallet and backup file.

  1. Now you need to copy the wallet.dat file and store it on your USB flash drive. This procedure should be done regularly. For example, when importing a new key. It is better to use several flash drives, as they are also not immune to data corruption.
  2. In your wallet, you can fill out an address book, indicating the details of the users to whom you regularly transfer your funds. Please note that addresses may change, especially for individuals, as it is not recommended to reuse the same address twice. If you send your Bitcoin coins to an address that the recipient no longer controls (does not have a private key to), you may simply lose the funds.
  3. Now you can start learning how to use Bitcoin Core to send funds. To do this, you need to click "Submit" and select an address from the address book in the "Contacts" section or enter it. You can use the “copy” function to avoid making mistakes in a long string of characters.

“Amount” is the number of Bitcoin coins you need to send. You can send any quantity. However, currently too small amounts (less than 0.001 Bitcoin) are difficult to transfer.

“Commission” is the next parameter that requires installation. The sending of funds will be successful depending on the amount of reward you set for miners. It must meet current network requirements. The wallet will usually offer you the recommended amount. The speed of the transfer depends on the size of your commission. To calculate the optimal amount, you can visit the service https://bitcoinfees.21.co/.

  1. The transfer of coins may not take place if the commission is too low. In this case, the network simply rejects the transfer. This happens when no miner has given your transaction at least one confirmation and it has remained unconfirmed for too long. After receiving at least one confirmation, you can be sure that the transfer is guaranteed to be completed.

As you can see, creating and using a Bitcoin Core wallet is not overly complicated.

Pros and cons of Bitcoin Core wallet

Negative aspects of using this wallet:

  1. Long synchronization.
  2. Large amount of hard disk memory.
  3. The need for a powerful PC.

However, this software has many more positive aspects.

  1. "Officiality"
  2. Reliable level of protection.
  3. Intuitive interface.
  4. Local way to store keys.
  5. Compatible with all common operating systems.
